Bought a special set of cupcakes decorated as flowers for a birthday lunch. A huge hit and they were delicious. Love buying from a place with a good mission. Support them.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Lucy J’s for years, but I’ve noticed something disappointing. It’s rare to see a locally owned business where the owner seems so disconnected from the customers. Every time I visit, I get the impression that my presence doesn’t matter, or is unwanted. There’s no greeting, no warmth, just a lack of engagement—not only from the owner but from most of the staff as well.

What’s even more unsettling is the noticeable difference in attitude when other patrons with lighter complexions come in. Suddenly, there’s enthusiasm and cheerfulness that I’ve never experienced. It’s disheartening and makes me question the values of the establishment.

So boom….I placed a customized cake order for my best friend for a vegan cake. The customer service was terrible. I emailed multiple times and did not receive a response but when I called they said they had seen the emails. The proper thing to do is respond then?¿ Upon picking up the cake, my friend and I were barely greeted. On top of that, one of my friends had an allergic reaction to the cake and they refused to let us know what ingredients were in the cake. All in all it was a 0/10. Cake was cute but the service and everything after was quite traumatic.

The service today was absolutely horrible! No one spoke to my group when we walked into the bakery. Both employees were very rude and ignored us. When we were finally addressed we were asked, "Are you just looking or are you going to buy something?" The woman decorating the cupcakes never acknowledged our presence. She didn't even look up to ask us if we needed assistance. I would suggest that staff receive training in the area of customer service. For employee verification this occurred on May 8, 2024 at 12:50pm.

I bought a pack of 2 croissants at the farmers mkt last Saturday, they were both burned. I called the bakery this morning, she said she would replace both for free, and when I got there, she offered me ca FREE item of my choice for me inconvenience. ?? that's great customer service and integrity. The chocolate cumble cheesecake bar was delicious ?Thank you so much!

Given it was not my first time visiting this establishment. I really think they should reconsider some of the young black girls they have working here. I visited one day with my grandmother and the girl that was working was so rude and disrespectful, she acted as if she couldn’t hear me when I requested treats and asked for them to be warmed up. She had a very nonchalant attitude as she pointed me to the register as if I didn’t know where it was and I was done ordering. When I looked at my grandmother and gave her a look as to say “idk what her problem is” the girl mimicked me and proceeded to look dumb. When we paid for the food, my grandmother being the kind woman she is still left a tip for the ungrateful girl and we then had a staring match where she later rolled her neck at me as I walked out. Never had this experience to prior visits there and it’s sad that my grandmother and I had to deal with this behavior. Also, when we got to the car the treats were still cold, meaning she didn’t even care to listen to clear instructions. She was too busy carrying her attitude on her shoulders.

I often work at Crosstown and I always stop by for a treat and they are usually very good. Today I stopped by because I wanted something sweet after a long day of training. I purchased a rice crispy treat because I had one previously from Lucy J's and it was great. Today it was not! That was not the problem because things happen! The issue is the staff, when I told the young lady (that rung me up) that the treat was stale, she just looked at me like what am I supposed to do! She then told the young lady with the red hair and she was like there's really nothing I can do because they all came from the same batch. They did not offer me another item or a refund! Needless to say when I picked up breakfast during the am, that staff was much more accommodating and polite! I'm over it! I'll find another bakery!!
