The hotel has a boutique style feel. The staff are great and the service is always with a smile. I love to ask which is the best floor, for what I desire, and the 16th was suggested ???? The breakfast is buffet with eggs, bacon, hash browns, muffins, orange juice, apple juice, coffee and milk. It’s in the heart of Downtown and a Walgreens is in walking distance. You go out the front and it’s directly to your right. You will love it!!
This hotel is great, particularly for Memphis, where (unfortunately) everything is a bit run-down. The room was mostly clean, the shower did appear to have some green in the corners, but it was overall acceptable. It is a little older and decorated in a way that transports you back to the glory days of Memphis. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast, but our friends traveling with us did and told us it was great. The parking is a bit confusing, it looks like the garage is closed, but you either have to aggressively approach the gate and it rises up OR if it is after hours, you can just quickly call the hotel and get the gate code. Don't drive to another garage to park, just make the call. The rooftop bar has WONDERFUL views. The bed is comfortable, and you can access your own Netflix account (if you have one) from the television. I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and I would stay here again. Our friends told us that they "loved" their room.
Close to everything I wanted to see and places I wanted to go. No microwaves in the room. No ice machines or vending machines on the floors. Have to go to lobby and ask for ice and buy high priced drinks, water and snacks, bring your own.
I stayed at Hu for a business trip and found it a delightful place to stay! A great value. The wifi was sketchy (at best) but I would not avoid this location because of it. The location is a convenient walk to almost all Memphis attractions.
No cleaning of rooms unless you ask for it. I did ask, but no cleaning happened, and no corrective measures were put in place when I reported it. Quality of service extremely low. Positive the rooftop bar with a magnificent view at sunset (but even the bar was in service only one of the 2 days I was there even though the opening times showed it should have been open...)
The hotel is a block from Main Street, and Beale Street is only a 10 minute walk! Staff is friendly, and Eboni is exceptionally professional, informative, and friendly during the afternoon and evening hours. Only drawback is that the drinks on the rooftop, snacks, and beverages are slightly on the expensive side.
Overall my stay was satisfactory, however my room was in need of a good cleaning. The carpet was stained, the bathroom had clear signs of dirt and the shower needed to be scrubbed (glad I brought shower shoes). There were cobwebs in the windows and small dead bugs on the window sill. The room was dusty and the air vents were so dirty that I had black dust blown on my bed. Ebony was working the front desk and she was the only reason why I gave this a 3 star rating. She was absolutely wonderful and met every need I had. The property is blocks from the convention center and Beale street. You can even walk to the National Civil Rights Museum.
No Wi-Fi, no soap, shampoo, no ironing board. I had to call the front desk like 4 times. Plus the carpet has stains on it and there’s not proper lighting in the room. Truly one of the worst stays I’ve had.
We were so pleased with the location and the Hu Hotel itself. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. Our favorite staff person, was Eboni! Eboni was very personable and a wealth of knowledge about where to go and what restaurants we should try. She was the second highlight of our trip. Visiting the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel was our first and best highlight of this trip. Thank you Eboni for the awesome and amazing person you are. Also, try the restaurant, SupperClub, you won’t be disappointed.
To begin with, the Hu is located within walking distance of most major sight seeing attractions. Taking the trolley, which is just down the block, is another option. But the staff at the Hu is what made our stay even better. Their freindly attitude and helpful suggestions were welcomed; seeing that this was our first visit to Memphis. An added bonus was watching the sun set over the Mississippi river from their rooftop bar.

Service was excellent , but my room wasn't very clean & neither was the bathroom, there was a musty smell we couldn’t get out. Didn’t feel it was worth $500 for two night stay. Breakfast was disappointing .
It literally went downhill the moment we stepped foot into this hotel and never improved. Self parking at $22 a night around the corner in a public carpark involved walking down seven floors of stairs with our luggage as all three lifts were out of order. When we told the receptionist she tersely said you're the first to mention this. Yet, upon checking reviews this has been a recurring problem since at least February. In the bathroom is a sticker stating there is no housekeeping as we don't want to disturb you. You can request it as we did but nobody came. There is no bath mat provided so coming out of the shower you have to use the few scant towels provided to avoid sliding on the lino floor. The internet fluctuates all over the place and is generally poor. The receptionist will provide you with a sheet of instructions but it wont tell you how to get the tv to work. That involves going to channel 50 first and then you can access more channels. At night there are three sources of noise to keep you awake. The bar across the street and we were on the tenth floor, the street car that sounds it's bell and the horns of freight trains. If you want to visit the roof top bar, it's closed on Sunday and only open until 9pm on the other nights. Breakfast is adequate for what you get for $10. There is no toaster though and unenviromentally all single use plates/cutlery. I should be fair and say good points, despite our room being adjacent to the lift we didn't hear it, the room was an ok size and the bathroom a goid size.
This property looks nothing like the photos. I heard water running the whole time in my room. The staff wasn’t very helpful. They had no food at the property. The common area had wet floor signs for hours.
My room had no air. Wouldn’t get cooler than 76 degrees. Maintenance came but it never got better. Requested a different room but was told none were available. Clear instructions for parking garage were not given because reception area was under staffed and I believe she was overwhelmed by the long line of people waiting to check in.
The staff was absolutely phenomenal and we had a lot of fun at the rooftop bar! The bartenders were extremely friendly. The view is stunning and drinks were affordable. Thank you for an amazing experience. We will definitely be back.
