Maciel's Tortas & tacos (Midtown)

Some of the best fast casual Mexican food in Memphis. The fried tacos never miss and I will never pass up a churro. Amazing and will definitely try more locations!

I got the steak nachos and let’s just say I couldn’t force myself to keep eating.
I expected there to be cheese drizzled on top, but instead it came with hardened clumps of “cheese”. I had to buy a side of cheese and the waitress was rude about this. It seemed like they just threw anything they had together— it was a mess. And I thought the carrots were weird. Wasn’t even expecting authentic Mexican but could not imagine them messing up nachos.

Check this place out. The food is so delicious. We went during the Cooper Young run and we really enjoyed it.

Chips were served old and cold.
$5 guac was a chopped half avocado with some pico.

Pastor taco tasted sour and I couldn't eat it.
Baha tacos were plain fried fish in tortilla with a mound of lettuce and tomato on top, no mango in the mango salsa.
Chicken tinga was bland.

Elote off the cob was canned corn and the dish was filled halfway with just water.

We were surprised there was so much take out, wouldn't recommend!

Good was absolutely delicious! We were in town visiting family and were looking for a good place to eat. You all did not disappoint. The only thing o didn’t care for was the chips (they were very hard) other wise great food and great experience!

We had tacos, tamales, quesadillas, elote corn, fajita tacos, chips & salsa, queso cheese dip, rice and refried beans and everything was DELICIOUS! Friendly and courteous staff all took care of us very well. The place was spic and span with a cozy beach side bar vibe with a spacious patio. Will definitely be going back!!

I ordered delivery from Grubhub for my first try as saw had good ratings. Wasn't bad but not the best either. The beans were very watery. Had to toss all the different sauces they sent in cups as too hot, wished there was a way to avoid the waste! Appreciate that they followed instructions and left off jalapeños and cut hubby's burrito in half. Everything was good but spicy tho but not too bad. Was reasonably priced for delivery plates as well. Enjoyed the fried tacos as they didn't break up. They need to offer meat burritos tho and cheeseburgers, know they have fries as was in burrito.

I stopped by to pick up dinner for my family (take out) - I did regular quesadillas for me and my husband, and they were each literally a half order with about 3 spoonfuls of rice and beans. I ordered a kids quesadilla for my son, and instead they gave him this tiny street taco. When I called, she was quite rude and said, “well you got what you paid for.”

Then to add to the rudeness, she offered me a $3.50 voucher. Really??

I used to go here a lot but will never go again, other than to get our money back, which I will be doing. I do not recommend going here ever.

To top it off, The food did not taste good, but we could not get out anywhere else because it had already started snowing and icing.

Don’t go here. Go to one of the great food trucks on Summer or Macon.
