Love seafood from New China. But this time they forgot my broccoli, gave a half potato, and supplied only eighteen shrimp, instead of the customary twenty-six.

I came In an ordered to eat in. They brought it to go! I’m I ordered it for here. They did not apologize it was jest like here is your fork. I ordered the Orange Chicken and the Crab Meat Rangoon. The Orange Chicken was okay A little hard to enjoy because of the orange peels. The Crab Meat Rangoon was like a corn starch. No meat no cheese just a runny gooey something. I let the know nicely this is not Crab Meat Rangoon. The guy behind the counter said it’s imitation. I said you still should be able to see it. So I did a video. You be the judge.

**New China on Kirby, Memphis, TN -
If you're considering dining at New China on Kirby in Memphis, let me save you the trouble: I *highly* recommend you look elsewhere.

Today marked my first—and will be my last—visit to this establishment, and it was nothing short of a disaster. I ordered a Seafood Boil “Combo C” (shrimp, crab legs, sausage, potatoes, corn), with a side of eggs and broccoli, along with 8-piece buffalo chicken wings. The fact that I’ve already decided not to return speaks volumes.

First off, I picked up my order, and the smell of the food was promising—until I opened the bag at home. The first thing that caught my eye was the crab legs. They were covered with small black dots. Now, I’m no stranger to seafood, but I had never seen this before, and it made me pause. A quick internet search reassured me it was harmless, but it wasn’t exactly a reassuring sight.

Upon further inspection, things only got worse. I dove into the seafood first, eager to try the sauce I’d been recommended. I had asked for the “house special,” a combination of all their sauces with hot seasoning. What I got was essentially a watery red soup with no flavor depth. The crab legs were bland, and the sauce... even blander. The potatoes? Just as uninspiring—no seasoning, no effort, just plain, flavorless potatoes floating in a lackluster broth.

At this point, I was beyond disappointed. I barely touched the seafood and moved on to the wings, hoping they would redeem the meal. I opened the box only to find that the buffalo wings weren’t even remotely coated in sauce. Some pieces had a thin layer on the front, while others were completely dry. How does a place serve buffalo wings with *no* sauce coverage? I can’t even call it “buffalo-flavored” because it wasn’t even enough to call a proper sauce job.

Frustrated, I called the restaurant to voice my concerns. The customer service only added to the disappointment. The young man on the phone was unhelpful and dismissive, offering no apology for the poor quality of the food. When I mentioned the wings and seafood weren’t up to par, he bluntly told me they don’t issue refunds. As for the wings, he stated “that’s just how they make them”. Really? That’s the excuse? And when I asked for a resolution, all he suggested was “adding more seasoning” to the already disappointing seafood bag. No offer to make things right or even to cook a new batch of food.

Long story short: this was a complete waste of time and money. The food was bland and lacked any sense of effort or flavor, and the service was dismissive and uninterested in customer satisfaction. I would *not* recommend New China to anyone—don’t waste your money here, and don’t waste your time hoping for a better experience.

This was my first and last visit. You won’t see me back, and I certainly won’t be recommending this place to anyone, not even my dog. Avoid it at all costs.

The food was quite unpleasant. I’ve been a regular customer for a while now, but I wouldn’t recommend going there until they get new management.

I visited this restaurant because I have had a great experience there in the past. I went to the restaurant recently on Saturday, June 21, 2025.and ordered usual: Beaf Broccoli with Rice and one Shrimp Egg Roll.
I received my order, took it home, and found a horribly prepared order. The beef was shriveled, and the rice was dry, as if it all was warmed in the microwave. The eggroll was tearing at the middle and over cooked. This was out of character for this restaurant and might have been an isolated incident. However, I will think twice before going there again.

The best shrimp fried rice ever!

The food wasn't that good. The fried rice tasted grainy and the chicken was way to big for orange chicken. The beef was rubbery.

The food wasn’t good. My order of sweet and sour chicken tasted very off. The food had a character taste of staleness. Also my egg rolls tasted horrible filled with old stale cabbage.
