The man behind the counter with facial hair and a beanie was making food with ungloved hands while directly touching it with his fingers. I haven't seen this behavior in restaurant staff for years.

I grew up coming here and have always loved it but my resent visits have been awful about a week ago I came in and tried to order a bagel they told me they were understaffed and couldn't do food orders I understand that completely, I asked if they were hiring since they were to understaffed to make food and the girl told me no. Today I came in and the girl with the big septum got my order and I told her it was for here then when she called me name it was wrapped in aluminum foil and no bag for two Roy H specials with no sauce on the side . Not to mention I gave her a 3 dollar tip since she seemed like she didn't wanna be there just for her to do that and have a attitude towards me I would love to come there and to be treated with a smile . I'm sorry that doing your job is apart of your job but this has to change because that's ridiculous.

I placed my order online and it was hot and waiting for me when I arrived. It was clean and cozy inside. My food was made correctly and so yummy!! I got the bagel sandwich thing and the secret sauce was *chef’s kiss*. The bagel was also really good, chewy on the outside and soft on the inside. The coffee was really good too, as a self-proclaimed coffee snob from Oregon! Last but not least, the pricing was very reasonable.

I went into Otherlands to get my typical lox bagel and box of incense, and today I decided to venture into the giftshop in the back. I found a beautiful scarf that I planed to get for my girlfriend but the attitude of the shop owner was stank, dismissive and rude. She seemed upset that I asked for service saying , “hello” and “excuse me” in a very pleasant tone while I heard hear chatting in the office with someone about a spreadsheet. She came to the counter with visible frustration so much so that I chose to leave the scarf in the store along with her and her bad energy. I went to the front and shared with the baristas my experience and they apologized on her behalf while also affirming, “thats my boss” with side eyes and raised brows. I hope she she doesn’t piss on her employees the way she does on her customers…Thank you for coming to my Ted talk on culture vulture shop keepers who clearly could use more mantra work and pranyayama practice. Om shanti, om.

the vibe is perfection. rad, calm, unique, peaceful. my hippie soul could live here. the lavender flavor is chefs kiss! people are cool, the merch is cool, food is amazing and coffee is REAL COFFEE! I'll be visiting every time I'm in Memphis. love this place GAH love love.
