I'm so sad this place is closing! It was always a great dining experience and Chef Michael always came out to talk to us!

This was an amazing Brunch! I had the Southern Eggs Benedict and it was so fresh and flavorful. The eggs were perfection and the pork was tender and full of flavor, the hollandaise was what put it over the top.The southern pecan old fashioned was also excellent and all at a great value. I will definitely be back the next time I'm traveling through Memphis.Keep it going Michael!! You have something very special here.

We loved it! The lobster pronto pups were delightful. I had the salmon and enjoyed it. I love a dish with a great sauce, and this was it. My husband had the award-winning chicken pot pie. It was good, but the sausage in it was weird and overpowering. The bread pudding was yummy. It would have been better with chocolate chips instead of blueberries. All in all, it was a great experience.

My diet has changed so much over the years. I went from being pescatarian to vegetarian to vegan. Chef Michael was always accommodating. My meals there are always awesome.❤

Ok . . . So this is a neighborhood restaurant that I just discovered. The pandemic really delayed my exploration of South Main . . . But tonight I went to Rizzo's and I LOVED it!!! I arrived before my friends and sat at the bar, I met Kenneth and Amy and immediately knew this would be a repeater . . . Both Amy and Kenneth were engaging and super genuine!! I started the night with a Sauvignon blanc which is all I can drink because of my diet, and Kenneth made sure I tried a good one!! My friends arrived and we were seated . . . To my surprise Amy was our host for the evening and of course she was amazing . . . She knows the menu, went through the specials, and shared her favorites. We of course, started with the Lobster Pronto Pup with creole mustard aioli on a bed of arugula . . . YES! A MUST have!!! Two of us ordered the Cod special which came with scallops, and caviar over cheese grits and a side of green beans . . . It was DELICIOUS!! My friend got the salmon and it looked delightful . . . He was quiet and his plate was clean . . . That means he ENJOYED it!! Lol!! Only one of us had room for dessert and he got the bread pudding . . . We could not stop staring at it . . . If I could have dessert, just based on his reaction after eating it and the way it looked . . . I would have ordered ten of them!!!! Ha!! I highly recommend Rizzo's for any and all occasions!!! Rizzo's is a reimagined southern cuisine and the kind-hearted, community-minded executive chef and owner Brian Michael Patrick makes this restaurant a standout. He walked around and checked on us periodically throughout the night!!

So I've slept on it and I still can't find it within myself not to write this review - or give more than two stars. I went with a small group of three based solely off of seeing the restaurant on "Diners, Drive Ins, and Drives" and the restaurant was very nicely set up and decorated. We were seated promptly but then waited over 15 minutes for a server who then came and apologized profusely for the delay saying there was confusion over whose table we were - in a restaurant at less than 50% capacity at the time. We all ordered drinks - two of the special Old Fashions and one regular Old Fashioned - they were all pretty good and decent value. We ordered two of the lobster pup appetizers (what we saw on tv) and they were decent but not as amazing as the tv show made them out to be. Also they came on a mountain of arugula - maybe that's why an order of two costs $29 (listed as market price on the menu). We were also told of the Chef's Special - a steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes dish - that we all three ordered. ...medium rare. Of the three plates that came, only one had a good cut of meat, the other two were small scraps of extra steak from earlier orders. The head chef/owner himself came to the table to say he had planned to sell those trimmings tomorrow but put them on our plate instead. I really wish I would've taken a picture because the difference was quite stark between the "cuts" of meat on the three plates. But it gets even better/worse - the "good" cut of meat and one of the scraps plates were grossly undercooked... as in straight cold and deep red/raw. The "good cut" guy powered through, but the scrap cuts guy sent his back for a bit more time in the oven. ...only to come back STILL RAW! Of the three, my scraps were the only ones cooked even to rare standards. All this for $45 each (more than 1.5 times the price of any listed entree on the menu!) I'm not entirely sure how this place has such high reviews - maybe my night was just excessively bad. With our experience last night, it just appears that this establishment and Mr. Patrick himself are just trading on the game brought to them by the TV show. He himself came to the table to explain the scraps of meat but we still weren't offered any price differential... I absolutely will not be back and will never recommend this place to anyone for anything other than a comfortable place to have a drink - maybe. $93 is FAR too expensive for what was delivered!

My wife and I ate at Rizzo’s this evening. The business seemed good as the restaurant filled quickly after we arrived. We both had a drink from the bar and the bourbon drink and the margarita were excellent. The server told us about the nightly special which was a pan seared duck breast in a fig reduction sauce with mashed potatoes and green beans. It sounded delicious so I ordered that and my wife had the pot pie which they are famous for. The food arrived and we dug in. The pot pie was piping hot and as exactly as great as all the reviews say it is. The duck and sauce was very flavorful but only slightly warm. The potatoes and beans were good sides and maybe very good but also just warmish. As it was a special and a good deal more expensive than most items on the menu(a tidbit I found out only after the check arrived), I expected a “hot” mouthful of deliciousness. I was disappointed. We then finished with the blueberry bread pudding. It was very good. I told the chef about my disappointment and he was “glad I brought it to his attention”. Good but not all great.

I loved the cheeseburger soup during my flying visit to this delightful restaurant. It's well placed, near the National Civil Rights Museum, Blues Hall of Fame and Arrive Memphis hotel.

It was cool. I went for the lobster pronto pup, which turned out to be underwhelming. However the blackened catfish Benedict is gold star.

let me start by saying we were disappointed before we arrived here because the 2 famous mamphis bbq places (rendezvous and central) we were looking forward to were closed. So we went into it with shrugged shoulders.very limited menu.food was good if not overpriced.Waitress was pushy as she was seemed to be hunting down a bigger tip by adding stuff to the bill due to how empty the place was.

Suasage & Cheese plate, lobster Pronto pups, Beef stew, Grit & Grind ball, hemp seed encrusted salmon. Always amazing. Highly recommend this place. Perfect for date night.

Every once and a while I look up a DDD offering in a city I'm doing business in. Rizzo's was one of those choices on a recent trip to Memphis. Having done the bbq thing on a previous trip, thought I would branch out this time. Very glad I made this choice. We happen to catch it on a slow night - got the reservation thru Google on the day of. Had a great chat with the bartender while waiting for the rest of my party. Transferred to our table and put into the awesome hands of our server - Rebecca. She was a hoot and not only provided some great recommendations but put up with our twisted humor. The food was fantastic - lobster appetizers, the cheese and sausage board, the special filet's and my favorite the chicken pot pie. We did save a little room for the bread pudding which was as good as advertised. Way to go Rizzo! and what a great neighborhood - we walked on a cold night from Beale street and enjoyed all the history on South Main.

Rizzo's is one of my favorites in Memphis. It's such a good mix of menu items, from chicken pot pie to meatloaf to an always tasty veggie plate. My husband loves the lobster pronto pups, which have such a light batter. The space is warm and cozy and the staff is friendly. We love the bread pudding for dessert.
