I just had take out for lunch I paid $25 for lunch baked chicken and gravy with yams Mac and cheese, green beans and a peach cobbler. I’m SO disappointed! The chicken was ok too salty for my taste but the Mac and cheese was terrible the beans could have been seasoned better and the yams tasted like it was cooked in perfume. The corn bread was good but baaaby the peach cobbler was horrible the crust was mushy and the cobbler sauce was thin like water and it had way too much nutmeg, I couldn’t even finish it. I don’t know if it was the location or what but that will be my last meal at the Kirby and Poplar location.

Food is great. I've tried several menu items from here that are great... the staff is friendly but the service is slow. Make sure you bring your patience but the food keeps you coming back. It's not as good as my mom's but it is one of the best substitutes in town. I would give them 5 stars for their food and 3 for their slow service.

I go to this restaurant often but today was just a huge mess the food not up to part they left out silverware and bread I feel you try to support your kind but some how they always get over then the gentleman on the phone when I called didn’t show any empathy and we are the ones helping the business to prosper this will be my last time going here and I will be taking all family and friends with me this is absolutely ridiculous

I was in Memphis working and asked the employees at the site where was a good place to get food… BABYYYY!! When I say they were on POINT with this one??!! Im not ashamed to admit I ate there 3 days straight, lol!! The fried chicken is just RIDICULOUSLY good!! The Mac and Cheese and Yams make you want to marry whoever is in the back whipping the food up!! Even the rice and gravy took me back to my childhood!! Just good eats and a great experience!! Ms Nicole (I believe that was her name) knew my name by the time I was heading home. Y’all stop in, you won’t be disappointed!!!

Ordered two meatloaf plates and two lemonades online for pickup today. Both with extra cornbread. The food is good but I am unfortunately missing the extra cornbreads. I did not pick up my order myself, otherwise I would’ve checked at the store. This is just a reminder to check or have your food checked, especially when ordering extras.

I have eaten here once and attempted to order two other times with no luck. The online ordering will not accept payment even after trying multiple cards and when I try to call no one answers the phone and it eventually goes to a busy signal. I would love to eat here considering I work close but its not worth the frustration of trying 15-20 minutes to order food each time. I hope the online ordering or phone lines will be evaluated.

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. The Winchester location is unprofessional and rude. Whoever the older lady working at the front desk today on 3/27/24 was so rude & refused to give me my order or check to see if my order was ready. I ordered 2 veggie places. Come home to find out both plates missing a side. I tried to support this black business but NEVER again. This has happened to me on another occasion as well. Some days the food is good & other days it's thrown together dry and bland. They NEVER answers the phone when you call. Please DO NOT waste your money here.

I recommend Southern Hands if you want a decent Southern meal at a reasonable price. I ordered the smother pork chops with okra and bbq spaghetti (it's a weird Memphis thing, sweetish and meaty spaghetti--odd) plus a a fried chicken wing and filet of fried catfish. It was a lot of food (2 meals) for around $30. You can order online for pick up which I highly recommend since the dining room, area and service isn't great. Restaurant is located in a lot with a big event space--looked like it was out of business, but the good news is a lot of parking. Area is a little sketchy, but overall safe. From the outside the restaurant looks like a converted Dennys, but inside it looks like what I imagined the set up was for the pandemic. Most of the dining area is closed off and full of take out supplies. You order and pick up from a center counter, but get directed to check your order on a side table. Good thing I checked since they forgot my cornbread which got rave reviews. Maybe it was an off day, but I thought it just tasted like ordinary cornbread nothing like the buttery, sweet heaven other reviews mentioned. The food was great! I even liked the slimy okra, but will past on the spaghetti in the future. Their specialty is definitely fried foods. Even after 30-min drive back to my hotel the fried chicken and fish were crisp without being greasy. Do not pass up on their fried goodies!
