My coworkers and I have eaten at the Blue Monkey off and on since they were down in a deep basement one door over from where they are today. Back then, seating was tight, but with the new building seating is not as much of an issue.
The food has always been outstanding there. The service can be a little slow, but they do get busy. Costs are a little on the steep side but within reason for our once-a-week dining out practice.

Our first visit to this establishment was presently surprised. The wife had the beef eater, and l the Blue Monkey burger. Both were cooked to perfection and delicious.

By far my worst experience I walked in traveling from Arkansas.First off I found a space to sit at the bar along with my guest and because it was full I went near floor tables close to the door and seated.The waitress at the bar yelling over customers at the bar to my table saying “hey I don’t have any servers so you would have to come to me at the bar to get your drinks and food. Completely blowed me so then told me that I don’t have any servers they all just about left sorry so me taking her word for it I walked when she yelled back over the bar saying my drinks were ready once I returned to were I was seated she than had a man to come tell me we don’t have any servers so you will have to go to the bar and get your drinks and food so I than told him ok she told us already thank you I already placed my order he than goes in the next dining area and have a black male to have to deliver me my food and as I sat in disbelief she than once cleared majority of customers at the bar went outside and smoked a cigarette and left me thinking wow my table was before the exit why now just bring it on your way out so she than returned back in the restaurant once she noticed that I seen a Caucasian lady serving to other customers she asked me are you ok and than asked my guest while they than walked around throughout the store and had a black guy running back and forward I WILL NOT BE RETURNING that completely blown me very disappointed in the behavior and the yelling over the bar and not attempting to find somebody to serve

Longevity of waitresses and bartenders. It’s so nice to see the same faces year after year.
Overall, the food was fresh and brought out promptly. The Philly cheesesteak didn’t have much flavor and the additional seasoning on the fries took away from the taste. The flavor of the mushrooms were not to my liking so I probably won’t order it again if I return. The catfish tasted great, but the breading could be more flavorful overall. The tartar sauce was terrible, but the coleslaw tasted decent. The mashed potatoes were the best part of the entire order surprisingly. I probably won't return because overall the food and environment was mediocre. Meh experience and there is better priced food and better tasting food in the area .🤷🏽♂️

Neat little tucked away neighbood atmosphere pub. Good drinks, didn't eat, however food looked really good. I'm not sure if the 18% grat added to bill is a Memphis thing, but it has happened in a few establishments... :( it's a bummer!
