On our first night in Memphis we stayed at the Canopy by Hilton Hotel and we decided to go to Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous Restaurant for dinner. Lucky for us it was about a two minute walk to the restaurant from our home. We were not disappointed. Almost everyone had ribs and I had the chicken. Everyone raved about the ribs and the chicken was really good as well. We had reservations so were seated very quickly. The place was packed. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere was good. Wait staff was very welcoming and attentive. No complaints.

Is it worth it? Absolutely! Best baked beans I’ve ever had in my life, and I don’t like baked beans! Sauce on the pork was nice and the slaw was not what I expected, which was refreshing.

Big disappointment! These pork ribs are the roughest ribs i have ever tasted. The sides are small. I wouldn't waste my money at this place. I would rather eat ribs from a gas station.

After all the hype I heard about this place I had it on my list for Memphis. The food was at best average, well cooked but somewhat cold. The most disappointing thing is paying nearly 50 dollars per head and be given plastic cutlery, it cheapened the experience. The waiter was lovely and the basement has plenty character but don't be in a stampede to go there.

Last at Bass Pro recommended and it didn't disappoint. It was just me so I sat at the bar. Got the sausage and cheese. Which they have the stuff right there and boom it was in front of. Then brisket for dinner. It was very good. Glad I chose to come here as I was passing through!!

I have been coming here for dry rub ribs since 1968. There is no better place anywhere for dry rub ribs. The service and atmosphere (in an alley across from the Peabody Hotel entrance). Prices are reasonable for what you get.
