Step it up tops before someone takes your spot. Shouldn't take 25+ mins to get a order! You'd think at least the fries would be fresh?! Terrible!

When you stepped in the TOPS BBQ on Union Ave you knew you were going to get the BEST FOOD and the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVERYDAY All day because those ladies work hard to please and prepare decent food. Since TOPS CHANGED so did the food and Not for the better. My BBQ sandwich had so much salt or seasoning added to it. It was uneditable. Tops BBQ stands alone and really doesn't need anything added to it. I will say that awful sandwich was fresh and I requested pulled and got chopped. The Staff was pleasant enough.

I havent been to a Tops BBQ since the 90's since moving out of the area. This place is old and could use some attention. BUT! The food was as good as I remembered. We both got the brisket combo and look forward to maybe going back again sometime for a repeat. It was so good and tender and the flavor was so good that it really didn't even need any BBQ sauce. The service in this place is just like the name,Tops! So friendly.

I ordered an Uber Eats from this restaurant more than once and each time they turn the driver away stating that they don't have the order. I believe they never made the order. Whenever I go to the restaurant in person, they already have nasty attitudes. I really tried to be forgiving and continue to patronize this business with a smile on my face because this restaurant has a beautiful history behind it but there needs to be some improvement.

Don't get the brisket. Maybe I'm used to Texas BBQ but the brisket was pale, soggy and mostly fat. The beans tasted like they were from a can. On one positive note, the potato salad was pretty good and the sweet tea was good.
Before we came in, the tables and seats were sprayed with bleach water but it was not wiped down. My daughter didn't notice and sat down which bleached her clothes which is frustrating on a whole other level.
There were so many flies inside the restaurant and the bathrooms were filthy. There's no chance we would return here.

This location is the worst Tops location in Memphis. The service is careless and takes no consideration for the customers that patronize this establishment or wish to order online. Orders are often completely wrong and frequently given away to delivery drivers. Food is taken from peoples orders to fulfill other orders. This location is always clouded with smoke to the point customers can not breathe and are coughing. Do not visit this location if you have any issues with breathing. If you are visiting Memphis and looking to try our BBQ, stay away from this joint as it is the lowest end establishment for BBQ in Memphis. This pace is an embarrassment to Memphis. Spend your money and time here at your own risk.
