Simply awful place to dine. Dirty, ridiculous service and so completely overpriced. Went there for my birthday lunch. Strong bleach smell upon entering, waiter wouldn't let us read the menu and instead, insisted on telling us about everything on it including all of the seafood dishes even after we said we don't eat seafood. Let them know I was Celiac and he talked all about it and how they had it covered but brought my food with a bread roll sitting on top. Remade it and did not include the cheese and assured me there was no dairy...what? Um, seriously? Then he brought me a bowl of microwaved cheese. Ugh. Spinach and artichoke dip was $13 and had very little chips and nasty globby cheese all over it. No! The rice pilaf was very greasy. Portions were super small, the plate was smaller than my hand. Asked for a refill on our waters and he never brought it, just the bill...$45 for a nasty lil lunch.. didn't even reduce my meal for never getting it right. Unprofessional. Avoid this place if you're passing through Memphis especially if you're Celiac and definitely if it's your birthday. Bummer.
We where looking for something different for a late night dinner so after being in the middle of a high speed chase, and watching them young folks drive police in n a circle.we came up on westys!!!! So if it's late in the am and you find yourself hungry but coming from Bartlett, Raleigh, nutbush, Fraser, olivebranch Hernando byhaila or SOUTHAVen HELL in
the try state area,WESTYs is the
most relaxing cool laid back hell of a place to eat lax.FYI they got milkshakes and a hot fudge pie,and Memphis beer.believe me you and I both will go back over and over CYALTHERE DMO
I went to Westy’s to enjoy dessert with my mom and it was both our first and last time going to this establishment. My server was great! She was attentive, friendly and quick but it was an older lady that made our experience terrible. The older lady was a waitress and she sat us in the back but she told another guy of another race, that he could sit anywhere. That was the first Red flag from her. The second red flag was when a young dark complexion man came in,he was given a free beverage on a hot day from a person that worked there and the old lady went off and was very loud, she treated him so terrible that it was too much to witness. The young man was polite and he acted more civilized than her and she didn’t give him any respect because she assumed that he wasn’t a paying customer. That behavior alone showed me that she was racist and she profiled customers. I wouldn’t recommend this place to no one. All I wanted was to enjoy dessert with my mom and she ruined that for us.
Stopped by Westy’s Restaurant in downtown Memphis during our brotherhood road trip—and wow, what a find! 🙌
We tried the veg burgers which were grilled to perfection, packed with flavor, and served with a hearty side of crispy fries 🍔🍟. The gumbo with shrimp was a total standout—rich, spicy, and comforting, with perfectly cooked shrimp swimming in a delicious tomato-based broth 🍤🔥.
But the real showstopper? Jake’s Original Hot Fudge Pie 🍫🥧—a warm, gooey masterpiece that’s an absolute must-try if you’re in the area. Every bite was pure indulgence.
Westy’s hits all the right notes—great food, friendly vibes, and a true taste of Memphis soul. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re passing through!”
Lawd hammercy , it’s super difficult to find satisfaction with food these days!! But this here is good as hell 🤤🤤!! I ordered delivery and everything was very on point! I gave 5 stars all around the board , assuming the in house experience must be awesome with their food quality being this good! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to sit in and get the full experience 😋❤️
The food was ok. The service was super slow. The atmosphere was great. Our server was amazing. Friendly place.
Westy's is on the north side of the downtown area, and parking is limited because it shares a parking lot with other businesses. It has a pub style atmosphere. The food was delicious, and the service was great.
A must visit in Downtown Memphis. The food was tasty and fresh, and the service was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful despite the incredibly busy time of day. This is one of those neighborhood, hole-in-the-wall places that travelers always hope to find when they want true local experience without the tourist trappings. This is a place I'll return to each trip to Memphis.
I came here with a buddy almost a year before writing this review, and only just now remembered to write it. I can say with very little exaggeration that this place effectively saved our lives. It was late at night when all the roads were still frozen over. My buddy and I were leaving a wedding that had subpar food, and stumbled across this gem on the way to the hotel cold, very hungry, and tired.
Immediately after walking in, the staff welcomed us in and were super friendly. They came by to talk to us during the meal, joked around, and made us feel right at home. The food itself was fantastic; The dip sandwich and tamales I had hit the spot 100%, and it was a lot of food for the money!
If you ever find yourself in the area, late night or otherwise, give this place a try. I will definitely be back!

Alcenias was closed so we walked down the street to this place and it all went south from there we've never been to this restaurant so we asked the server whats the best menu item. she told me the chili tamales ok cool I'll order that. The worst decision of the day, it taste like hot nothing as if it's no salt in the building. Told the waiter we didn't want the item and she seemingly gets upset with us because THEIR food is nasty. Like lady i think the roles should be reversed. First and last time going its really in a prime time spot and if the food gets better the business could sky rocket but for it's ?

It's different there, things surely are not the same and it smells! I don't know if it's because the building is old or what. I used to love Westys food but their health department scores are scary for the chef in me!!
They do have good drinks so if you want to drink go there if you want to eat find somewhere else to go unless you just don't care about your gut!

**Gotta luv a cool eatery just off a fast-lane Interstate!** Heading from Arkansas to Tennessee makes sense, eh? ? And stopping for a deeelish catfish basket with the frills?! That made my blessed sunny day! ☀️
To make it brief: Do the same, will ya? And be sure to say hi to Angel-Server, Miss Barbara. [Add on a good tip for her, please!] On your way out, high-five the up & coming bro, Sir Xeno. Chat a second, go ahead, I dare ya! Just don’t lose your head…
…and, yup, watch your step… ✊??
{Street parking limited, cash/cc, awesome interior & vibe, outdoor patio tables available!}

First time in tennessee and i absolutely love this place! Our server who said he was new was absolutely amazing and great with the kids, the food on my end wasn’t to my liking but that’s just because i wanted to try something new but everything else looked amazing and i would even bet if i got something else i would’ve loved this place even more. The new server really needs a raise though!!
Kid-friendliness: He gave the kids little coloring books and even played a game with the younger one and gave her slime! Very nice best waiter i think i’ve ever had.

Visited after a show at the Orpheum. Favorite downtown dive. I always get the catfish basket. This time, though, our server had to be asked for things multiple times. Other than that, it was a nice dining experience, as usual.
