Absolutely beautiful place! The rooms, beds, pillows... were all very comfortable. There was a refrigerator and coffee pot, but no microwave. The clerks at the front desk were very helpful. The housekeeping staff was also very attentive to our needs. While we didn't use the pool, we saw several guests using it. It looked well maintained, and there were pool toys available for guests' use. Location was great, as the lodge is right off the interstate. There is a waffle house close by and a grocery store within walking distance. Overall, a very nice stay!

The room was very dirty their was a big brown stain on the head of the mattress their was hair all over the pillows and hair on the beds this place is nasty I’d rather sleep at the motel 6 this place was built in 1960 and should cease operation in 2025 because damn

Very convenient to out of towners planning on attending a concert at the Caverns, the Smokehouse Lodge and Cabins is a rare gem in tiny Monteagle, TN. The staff is all incredibly friendly, and super helpful. On my most recent stay, I forgot my favorite pillow in my haste to get home after a long weekend out of town. The housekeeping staff turned it into the office, and the staff emailed me offering to ship it back to me. I have always loved staying here, and will always suggest it to anyone heading to the greater Pelham area for any reason!

I don’t recommend. The floor above was extremely noisy when it was walked on.

I love this little hotel. I am not going to lie, I really miss the store and smokehouse. I pray that one day the strength will be given to rebuild this amazing place.
With that being said, I have read bad reviews. This is not a "5 star" hotel like a four Season, or Hilton. It is a beautiful lodge that makes me feel like I am camping. The live music wonderful to listen to at night. They had a fire going and we ran to the dollar general across the street for some s'more making ingredients.
The staff was so pleasant all around.
This is a special special place! Think campground lodge with nicer rooms.
Love it!!
Please, though. Rebuild the trading post. Those gifts in their were so amazing. So much life left to give ?

Update: The review below was 8 years ago. We stopped thru 10/2025 and were a bit disappointed . The beds are WORN OUT. The room smelled a bit musty, but everything looked and seemed clean. IIt was $50 cheaper than East or West off the mountain. Also note, the restaurant burned to the ground. Old review from 2018: What a pleasant surprise! We have driven this route up and back to visit our family at least two or three times per year for 25+ years, and somehow we have never stopped at the Smoke House Lodge. While looking for a pet friendly hotel for the night, this location came up, and we were pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price we were quoted (and honestly a little nervous about the cleanliness and safety of the location). Oh my goodness, what a nice clean place, no creepy smoky smells, and already cooled off room when we walked in. There were two clean comfortable queen beds, clean floors, sink, and bathroom. No chemical or fake odor covering smells, just crisp and clean. And the restaurant next door was a delicious addition to the visit. Fun BBQ, sauces and jams, and fabulous breakfast. Don't miss this great cabin-like atmosphere for a great price.

Read the reviews across all platforms before you stay OR make purchases online from them. FRAUDULENT CHARGES FROM THIS PLACE. EMPLOYEES NOT HELPFUL, AND VERY UNCARING NOT AT ALL CONCERNED OF OTHERS. THERE WEBSITE IS FRAUD, THEY KNOW ABOUT ADDITIONAL CHARGES OF PEOPLE, YET THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY'RE MAKING MONEY OFF INNOCENT PEOPLE! THEY'RE THIEVES!! CONSUMERS BEWARE! REPORTING THEM TO BBB!!

Absolutely exceptional! The Smokehouse Lodge and Cabins exceeded every expectation and made our stay unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality was evident. The lodge itself is a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. Our room was affordably priced, spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully decorated with a cozy, homey feel.

The views are breathtaking, offering a serene escape into nature that is both relaxing and invigorating. The on-site amenities, including the pet friendly policy, well-maintained hiking trails and the inviting fire pits, added an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay.

A special shoutout to the staff—always friendly, helpful, and attentive without being intrusive. They truly went above and beyond to ensure our experience was flawless. And let's not forget the Smokehouse restaurant; the food was delicious and perfectly complemented the lodge's laid-back atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with top-notch service and stunning surroundings, the Smokehouse Lodge and Cabins is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back!
