Wonderful food. I felt sorry for the waitress she was working the lunch crowd alone. She had several tables and customers. The owner was seating customers, taking orders over the phone, running the cash register and carry food and drinks to the tables. I understand how hard it is to find employees.

As I was doing a report on how locally owned businesses are doing; I decided to stop by during a rather slow period at the restaurant to ask the owner 2 simple questions on how business is doing. After asking if the owner had a quick minute for us to chat I was yelled at regarding soliciting him and he proceeded to say “how would you like it if I came to your house when your family was eating dinner.” He was extremely rude, and yelled at me in FRONT of his customers. I would’ve left if he just said he didn’t have time or that he didn’t want to, but instead he decided to be rude. As someone who has thoroughly enjoyed the food at this restaurant; how the manager treated me when I asked a simple question has led me to never want to eat here again. This is from my personal opinion and experience eating there.

This was our first visit to the tea room with my daughter and daughter in law and we were very excited as we’ve had tea many places and always enjoy it. When we looked at the menu, we realized this is not a true tea room, although they do serve tea, hot and cold. It’s more like a lunch spot that looks like your grandmas house. Which is fine but we wanted a tea house with little sandwiches cookies and cakes. The food we did order was just ok, nothing to rave about. We ordered a pot of tea but had to ask for cream and sugar. No special tea spoons or sugar bowls or sugar cubes, just little packets of white sugar like at a truck stop. We will keep looking for a real tea room and likely not come here again. Service was good by the way. It does get crowded around the noon hour so plan a reservation if you want to go.

My family and I have enjoyed this cute, downtown restaurant for 10+ years. I am saddened to say that we probably will not return. My experience here has always been top tier, servers and staff are excellent, but after finding out how greedy the owner is, I will be choosing to spend my hard earned money elsewhere. I eat here atleast once a week, we tip excellently, and for the first time ever eating in this establishment, my pimento cheese had an odd taste. I quietly stopped my server and explained that I order this item often, and today it just was not good. She was very apologetic and immediately took it off of my hands. Moments later she returned, apologizing to me that the owner would not allow her to remove it from our bill, and would I want to have my pimento cheese back. The owners solution was to hand me back the food I had already stated that I was unsatisfied with. A $3-$4 item, just cost him a 10+ year, paying customer. It was not half eaten, there was one bite missing.

The guy who now owns this place is rude and despicable. I waited 40 minutes for a table. Was there around 11:30 on a Friday so before the lunch rush hit. I was totally ignored. When I finally got a table I ask for the owner and instead of apologizing for my wait he told the servers to serve me and get me out of there. When I called him out for his rudeness he then told the servers to not serve me. After a 40 minute wait I was not served that day. His beautiful mother and dad established this business and would never have treated customers this way. He rides on their coattails and bc the business is well established and the only option downtown that he can treat ppl this way. I’ve ate there for years. Had baby and bridal showers there over the years. He didn’t care. Eat somewhere that you will be treated well and respected. A simple apology for my wait would have diffused the situation. Instead he chose to be a total a$$ and treated me horribly.

I wasn't sure what to expect before having lunch at the Tea Room with a local friend, but it wasn't as frilly as I was expecting (which was a good thing to me). Actually, any manly man could enjoy lunch here without losing his man card. The lunch was fantastic. Based on others' reviews, I tried the squash soup and it was delicious! I highly recommend eating here!
