Absolutely the biggest boast I can give to the best Cuban restaurant located in Nashville Back to Cuba Cafe I was so happy to find out they had reopened!! (They closed during Covid) and yes I will absolutely drive over an hour to eat there! 🍽️ This is true authentic Cuban food & it’s delicious! I ordered a pulled chicken empanada $4.75… But I ate it on the way home so I didn’t get a picture of it lol. It was stuffed with tender pulled seasoned chicken. I’ve tried the beef empanada before.. just as delicious! But the main reason I went there was for the Lechon Asada.. this is a roasted pork served w/ white rice, black beans, yuca w/ mojo sauce $19.95 Can we say OMG??! You definitely will not leave hungry!! I had enough for dinner and leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. The roast is so tender and seasoned to perfection 🤌🏼 The yuca with the mojo sauce, which is a garlic citrus sauce is so good. And I’m not sure exactly what they do to their white rice and black beans.. but it is hands-down the best! The owner was so sweet. She remembered me, even though it had been years & and she gave me a “welcome back” cherry turnover ❤️

I drove 30 minutes to try this place. When I entered the cafe it took me right back to Miami with regards to the style and smell. Very authentic. The wait staff were quick to assist me and seat me. Once I ordered my food it was only 10 minutes if that before I had this glorious bounty a food presented to me. It was absolutely delicious! I had a guava pastelito for dessert which I forgot to take a picture and it was amazing so I bought another one to take home.

Everyone was very helpful and polite I will definitely be making a habit of stopping by here a few times a month.

Back to Cuba is literally my new favorite place in Nashville. The food was out of this world. The owners are amazing and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, and the prices are great. Make this a priority when you’re in Nashville. You will thank me later.

5 years ago, Back to Cuba Cafe, one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville closed due to Mapco Gas Stations greedily buying up the Trousdale Road strip mall that housed their location. I was heart broken, given the fact that I would buy one of their amazing Cuban sandwiches or another one of their many authentic Cuban recipes almost every week. Recently, after relocating to Maine, I learned that they had opened a new restaurant in the Nipper's Corner area, (funnily enough, the exact area I lived before my move up north. Lol.) So finally, last week I got a chance to return to Tennessee for my daughter's birthday, and I finally got to experience my beloved Back to Cuba's glorious, Cuban sandwich again! It was just as good, if not better than I remember. This will now become a Nashville staple every time I return to Tennessee. Probably visiting multiple times like I did on this most recent trip. Absolutely outstanding and would highly recommend checking them out!!

Back to Cuba Cafe is one of the best hidden gems in Nashville for authentic Cuban cuisine. Tucked away on Old Hickory Blvd near the Nippers Corner area, this spot is one of the only places in the city where you can get true Cuban flavors, and it completely exceeded our expectations.

We ordered the vaca frita and ropa vieja, and both were absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and packed with flavor, and the portions were generous. The plantains were perfectly cooked, sweet and golden, and the meal started off strong with freshly baked Cuban bread served complimentary. Their house-made hot sauce was a standout too — full of depth and just the right amount of heat. Definitely ask for it!

The service was warm and welcoming. Everyone we interacted with was kind, attentive, and made us feel like valued guests. The restaurant was spotless, and you could tell keeping it clean was a priority.

If you’re in Nashville and looking for something unique and flavorful, Back to Cuba Cafe is a must-visit. Cuban food this good is hard to find in the area.

We stopped into Back to Cuba by chance after a listing photo session at a client’s home nearby (fueling up is part of the creative process, right?). Mathew went classic with the Cuban sandwich — perfectly pressed, melty, and just the right balance of savory pork and tangy pickles. I ordered the carne plate with black beans, steamed rice, and tostones, and honestly, every bite tasted like it was made with heart. The tostones were golden perfection — crispy outside, tender inside — and the beans had that home-cooked comfort that makes you want to linger a little longer.
Even the white rice was incredible, a humble grain turned into one of my favorite items on the plate, made sensational with care. If you’re searching for something vibrant, flavorful, and totally authentic, make your way Back to Cuba. You’ll leave full, happy, and probably planning your next visit before you hit the parking lot. 🇨🇺
