Really spicy chicken, I recommend the mild for the weak and for people who think salsa is spicy. Good food though, the bread tastes nasty though

I had friendly staff taking my order. Nice decorative flowers on the tables that make the atmosphere feel light. The food was really great, I highly recommend that catfish. When they warn you about the spice levels, do listen to them. Ordered the lite mild and wish i got lite or no spice LMAO

Under new Vegan management portion sizes are small . This is not the same establishment from two years ago ever since the owner passed away. I will not becoming back Spaghetti was mostly sauce not really any noodles this was not $42 worth of food . I’ve been coming to Boltons for almost 10 years and I’ve never had an experience like this They sprinkled hot seasoning on the chicken on top no flavor town . No air in the building just fans everywhere . I have it a 2 stars because of the friendly employees .

My wife and I ate here while on a road trip. I got the hot leg quarter and it was great. They also have extra hot. The hot was definitely hot, but not so much as to overpower the flavor of the chicken. They have inside seating and picnic tables on the patio. We had our dog with us, so we sat on the patio.

Review for a visit two years ago. Ordered maximum spice, server asked me if I was sure, said yes, face was melted. Would try again. Place is as bit run down.

I got the catfish, extra hot (spiciest you can get,) potato salad, green beans. I'm usually pretty satisfied with my meal because I like to ask the servers their favorites, and this one was great. Also got some chess pie slices. The extra hot is a dry rub on the catfish, so I couldn't get hot with extra hot on the side (I try to be a little careful in case it's too hot to eat.) I was given a verbal warning regarding the extra hot, and finished the rest of my families order. The extra hot was E.X.A.C.T.L.Y what I wanted and needed. The fish and spice were flavorful, plenty of meat, the sides were spot on. I can never get anything that is spicy enough without sacrificing flavor and this place did a great job of getting both right. I also almost never get dessert, but last minute decided to try what sounded unique and I'm so glad I did. Would highly recommend around by here if you're looking for actual Nashville hot anything.
Side notes: the people I was with were talked down a level from what they usually get and they were very happy that they did that, it was perfect to have stepped down a notch. The place is truly no frills. No A/C, few indoor tables, food comes in takeout Styrofoam containers with prepacked utensils. Nice people. Frequent online orders, obviously a popular choice.
Don't come here looking for luxury, come here for the food.

My sister and I visited Bolton’s Chicken & Fish for lunch today, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the older gentleman at the counter seemed uninterested and unwelcoming — definitely not the energy you want to start your meal with.
The restaurant was uncomfortably warm, and we had to sit near a fan just to tolerate the heat. That should’ve been the second warning sign.
I ordered the lite mild chicken breast with potato salad and baked beans, while my sister had the catfish sandwich. The food came out in under 5 minutes, which seemed suspiciously fast. When I opened my box, I was shocked to find visible feathers still attached to the chicken. It was rubbery, dry, and overly spicy — with zero flavor beyond heat — and the center was cold. Yes, cold.
When I brought it back, the same rude gentleman told me he could just “reheat it.” When I showed him how tough the chicken was to pull apart, he responded dismissively, asking, “What do you want then?” He admitted they don’t cook fresh because “there’d be a long line if they did.” That was incredibly concerning from a food safety standpoint.
Thankfully, another kinder gentleman came out and said he’d make a new piece fresh, which I appreciated. However, that second piece, while hot, was just as bad — rubbery, tasted off, and I actually had to spit it out. It was inedible.
The potato salad was undercooked, and while my sister's catfish sandwich seemed okay, everything else was a disaster. We even bought an extra breast — which was cold and clearly reheated. It looked like they reused the same box they gave me the first time.
I didn’t bother going back up to complain again — I just threw it all away.
Absolutely horrendous. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Between the attitude, the food quality, and potential food safety issues, it’s just not worth the risk or the money.

We visited this place over the weekend, and I can honestly say I will never spend another dollar there. While we were waiting for our food, my husband and I saw a huge roach crawling on the floor. One of the workers (older, white male) came out of the kitchen and saw the bug. He stepped on it and left it on the floor. He didn't look shocked that a bug was crawling around in the restaurant. That let me know he has seen them before. We paid $75 for the food a threw it in the trash. I didn't complain but decided not to ever spend another dime there. The place is also dirty. Clean up!!!
