We come for business each year at the Nashville Convention Center and stay at the Marriott Residence Inn upstairs. So, it's more than convenient to walk downstairs to Calacas!Each year we stay, we are in town for a week and I would bet that we eat at least 2-3 times. It's just great. We try to sit at the bar, but if we get there too late, the place is packed...and for good reason.Fun place. Great food. We always leave patting our tummies and leftovers to take upstairs because we ate too much! Thanks for the great time. We'll be back next year!

Here I sit, relatively inebriated from the two mezcal margaritas I've consumed. My wife and her compatriots are discussing the pitfalls of breastfeeding in the middle of the night. My Jamaican server, Dane, has insisted I consume this second beverage. I'm suspicious that his motivations are less than be benevolent, but my cloudy mind has dismissed any such notions at this point. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I awoke in a palm frond roofed structure outside of Tijuana. I'd probably just chalk it up to a good time and walk home.The Mole enchiladas were fantastic, and I'd recommend them to any travelers to Nashville.

We went for my boyfriend’s birthday and they brought out a slice of cake without us asking and charged us $12 for it. The food and drinks were great, but I wish they had asked before bringing/charging for the dessert.

It's not always easy to find a good meal on the road at 8 PM, this place really fits the bill. I ate at the bar, the carnitas tacos were really excellent, and the atmosphere and excellent service really revived me after a long day.

The food is here is exceptional, most Mexican food restaurants pile refried beans on the plate and blanket with jack cheese. This is cuisine, made by chefs that care about their art. I ordered a chele relleno. The sauce was sophisticated, and light, and had many levels of flavor. The cheese is Cotija cheese, not the usual stringy jack cheese. You can order it with meat as well. It was the best chile relleno I think I have ever had to be honest. I grew up in Texas, and live in Southern California where Mexican food is literally on every corner. The bartender made scratch Margaritas, which were a little small for the price, and he suggested a great Spanish wine. I gave four stars to service because I was a female dining alone at the bar, traveling for work, when I struck up a conversation with a fellow traveler. I am a highly sociable person, and genuinely love meeting new people, and hearing their stories. The man bought me a glass of wine, and while pouring it, the bartender made a remark that seemed to suggest I was on the make to get this person to buy me a glass of wine. It was sexist and rude. So, if anyone is reading this from the restaurant , welcome to 2024, staff should treat women with some respect, and don't make assumptions there is something unseemly going on if they are solo. Have to say though, food is exceptional.

I travel 300 days a year, across the USA, and I eat everywhere. Calacas Mexican Cuisine is by far one of the best places I have been in a very long time. If your in the mood for great service and excellent food, you can't go wrong with Calacas Mexican Cuisine.
