Nice dinner before the movie. We tried jerk chicken, vegetable plates, and curry. It was all quite tasty. Service was quick.

Visited for lunch today 8/30/25. The server came as soon as we sat down. Took the order and she disappeared. Another server brought our food. Food was good but could of been warmer. Our glasses sat empty. Eventually the server brought fruit tea but tootally ignored our water. She disappeared again. She finally came by for us to pay. She did not even give us chance to send a receipt to our email. Asked for a to go cup for the water that was finally filled, she disappeared again. Got home, called to speak with a manager who never came to the phone. Sad, this used to be a good place to go but will have to rethink that. Oh, this will be talked about to everyone we know.

Delicious salad, my son loved his burger, super short wait to be seated, extremely rude server. It would have been a much more enjoyable visit if not for Amy’s service or lack thereof. Our food was slow but worth the wait. Amy didn’t introduce herself, I had to ask her name, she checked on my son, I called her by name since she didn’t ask if I needed anything and she kept walking. When she came back with his request I ordered desserts to go and asked how to pay and she said with her. I paid, she said “We good?”, I said yes and she walked away. No thank you, no receipt (I didn’t know that’s what we good meant), no come back and see us, nothing. I tipped her 15% of grace but perhaps talk to her because ugh, from beginning to end, the attitude was unpleasant and unnecessary.

Best nachos on the planet. Best fruit tea anywhere. Mint Brownie warmed up is amazing. All the food really is the best if you like chicken, healthy, bean dip etc. I'm trying to figure out how to get back there on our vacation.

It’s so sad to see a place I used to love fall apart. First, as soon as we walked in, the look on the servers face made us feel unwelcome, he was clearly waiting for his shift to end. Second, they just need to take the Island Burger off of the menu, they’ve been out of them the last 3 times I’ve tried to order one so I settled for a chicken breast sandwhich that left me spitting out bones of the tasteless sandwhich. Lastly, the tables and chairs had food on them and everything felt sticky to the touch. I really miss the old Calypso Cafe, my experience today left me never wanting to come back. Another Nashville staple has lost it’s way.
