I have eaten at all of the Calypso locations since I moved her 20 years ago. I have been saddened there is only the Thompson Lane location left. I have always ordered the Lucayan salad and keep coming back bc it is fantastic! Today I went and the muffins were mini and flat. Very strange texture. The dressing was either rotten or not made right. It smelled foul. The chicken was not just colder than normal but had ice on it. Again, my server was very kind. He offered to bring me something else, but I was not interested at this point. I was almost nauseous. Then I was still given the check to pay for a salad that I did not eat at all. Only one single bite. I said nothing and obliged, as my husband owns restaurants. I get it, and conceded to pay. I did say something to the catering manager on the way out, as I would want to know to improve. Although he was also kind, he offered zero apology and didn’t even respond about the dressing being potentially spoiled or offer to check on it to make sure it was okay. Im sure I will try again in hopes that the 100 wonderful times I’ve eaten it will prove to reign true again. However, my voice was not even acknowledged, and I think it is important that the owners/managers know. Complaints help my husband’s restaurants improve just as much as the compliments.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars! We were introduced to Calypso catering in Feb 2019 when they catered at one of our friend's welcome dinners as part of a wedding weekend. The food was great! We opted to have Calypso cater for our wedding welcome dinner on 10.13.23. Michael was amazing to work with. He responded quickly and clearly to emails and would provide regularly updated quotes, as requested. He arrived right on time and set up all the food. Michael also made sure they brought signs to indicate names of food with dietary labels (gluten-free, vegetarian). We had MANY compliments on the food (pulled chicken, house salad, beans, rice, calypso bars). The food is delicious and very reasonably priced for catering. I don't think you'll find a better catering option in Nashville.

Bring this place back!
Best people and food in the world!
This is one of our favorite restaurants! The service is always great and the food is excellent. Highly recommend for lunch any day of the week!
A must try in Nashville, I’ve been eating there for over 25 years…. The best food, service and prices in the city.
Great food, black beans, muffins, spicy sweet potatoes, Calypso har! Great service.
They have an AWESOME BLACK BEAN SALAD like no other. The sauce they serve with it is the BEST ever. We also buy a couple of pints to take home. SO YUMMY. Plus the service is beyond great.

Full, diverse lunch crowd. Fruit tea is good. Liked the chicken (quarter white) with curry sauce and corn and bean salad. Service was quick but rather perfunctory - just the minimum. St. Lucian's rice tasted moldy.
The food here is fresh, delicious and well-priced. They have had the same staff for years and they are all very attentive and extremely nice. I highly recommend this place. Tell the Gentle Giant hello for me if you see him working.
Great food at great prices & the fruit tea is to die for.
Was soooooo delicious! The jerk is my favorite, and could absolutely drink that sauce!!!!! You MUST go here
It was ok.
