I had an exceptional dining experience at Char in Green Hills! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and sophisticated—a perfect balance of elegance and comfort. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making great recommendations and ensuring every detail was taken care of. The food was absolutely outstanding. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Whether it was the perfectly cooked steaks, fresh seafood, or the creative sides and appetizers, every bite was a delight. The wine and cocktail selection complemented the menu perfectly. Overall, Char is a must-visit for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in Green Hills. Whether it's a special occasion or just a night out, you'll leave impressed and planning your next visit!
Well, the service was good but the food was just maybe a 4. I had sea bass that was almost raw and had so much stuff and sauce on it - it was way "over dressed". I love sea bass and it doesn't need to be so covered/sauced that you can't even see the beautiful piece of fish. Others had the filet and the rib eye which were good but not great. I rarely leave a negative review but the prices here really call for excellent food. The chefs need to up the ante on the entrees. I will say that the desserts were spectacular, even the sorbet.
The food was so delicious! We had a show to get to, so we didn't have alot of time, so we sat in the bar area and it was great with a wondeful piano player. We had a great experience, our server was attentive without being annoying! The mussels and seafood pasta were fantastic! We will go again when we come back to party in Nashville!
Char is always awesome and the service is always great. We have gone there nearly 50 times or more. One small issue was an open table issue where they canceled our reservation or said we didn't show up. I don't quite understand it, but they seem to handle it after I made a telephone call and the manager apologized in an email once I flagged it. I do think for regular customers they should try to avoid these sorts of annoyances.
Caesar to start. Always consistently good with their steaks. We got medium rare ribeye and NY strip and both cooked to expectations. Side of creamed spinach was great side to pair with the baked potato.
For a steak restaurant, the menu has a lot of non steak options. The Sea Bass and Red Fish were especially tasty. Wonderful service too.
First time here and we loved it. It was our first date of the year. Very nice atmosphere. Waiter was awesome and very friendly. I ordered sea bass and she had red fish plus sides and dessert (pecan pie w/ice cream). All of it was amazing and delicious. Will definitely come back.
We celebrated my birthday dinner here and everything about it was amazing. The food was so delicious and our server Ryan was great! Highly recommend and will 100% be back. I had the filet with the Oscar and the hubs had the ribeye, we chose the crab cakes for an appetizer and they were the best I've ever had. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
Not a good experience. Our waiter never refills water, brought bread when asked, and would go missing for extended periods of time when we needed him. I'm an ex server so my expectations are appropriate. One steak was good, the other two were not. When we were without water for about 10 mins and unable to find our server we asked (presumably) the manager for another bottle of water. She was annoyed and snippy with us and no one ever poured the water they just put the whole bottle on the table and walk away. We will not be going back.
Outstanding! The bone in pork chop was cooked to perfection and the blueberry bread pudding was to die for! It's was our second time and we will most certainly be back

Sooo good. My husband enjoyed the cornbread dusted redfish and I enjoyed the creole shrimp penne. The blueberry bread pudding was out of this world. Don't skip it if you like bread pudding. We took the majority of the dessert home with us. The service was on point as well. We look forward to the Franklin location opening.
The food was yummy. I had the steak and cheesy eggs. I like to pick food I wouldn't have anywhere else and it met my criteria. Excellent espresso martini. Hubby loved his Creole brunch. The service was spectacular. Our server made us feel like guests at her home. The Peking signs were heck of confusing but they validate for 2 hours!
Delicious Friday Lunch Special —-scrumptious and hot catfish with very tasty sides and our server, Isaiah, was very friendly and professional and added to the enjoyment of our dining experience. We noticed that he was working several tables, but he was still very attentive and efficient to us. In our opinion we think Isaiah would be an excellent mentor for new servers and some existing servers, too.🙂
I don't typically review restaurants however our service was so awful for this type of restaurant. We sat for 15 minutes before being asked if we would like a drink, bread came out after the meals, two salads were delivered and the third was brought with the meal. The server asked us if we wanted our check when the meals were delivered. The food was excellent so I'd try it again and hope for better service.
Steaks had too much salt. Waiter was great! Overall a fairly good experience but need less salt
