This is the second time I've been to City House. First time was with friends, the second time was with my father-in-law. Both times the food was fantastic. The pizza is cared for with excellent toppings, but the crust is where it lacks (and I mean this lightly. It's better than anything I could create but I have had better quality pizza for slightly less cost). My reasoning for my low review for atmosphere is because it is LOUD in that building. There are no sound panels or sound deadening boards anywhere in the restaurant, and I found myself talking a louder than I normally do. I do understand that it was a Saturday night and it was packed, but the restaurant should absolutely hang something on the walls to help mitigate the sound. The service I had on Saturday night as well was absolutely not up to par for the cost of everything in this establishment. The first time I went our server was fantastic: checking in frequently, great at making small talk, and helping us navigate the menu as well. The second time we went our server was barely around. They were absent for most of the night, took a very long time to take our food order after ordering drinks, and when we ordered dessert they didn't bring out my father-in-laws order. Along with that, it took 15 minutes for her to come in and check on us about the desserts, which at that time my wife and I had already eaten our desserts and were ready to get the bill and leave. Our server even called back all of our desserts before leaving to put the order in, so I have no idea where the lapse in communication was. I'll be honest, I don't think it's worth the price to come back. There are new establishments opening in Nashville that have better service, atmosphere, food, and value for what they charge.
Neighborhood restaurant with inventive tasty food. Pizza was awesome as well as the pasta. Server was friendly and attentive.
Everything the group had was delicious and our server was wonderful. She made great recommendations and was very enthusiastic. The only challenge was it was so nosy we could barely hear each other at our table of 4.
Fantastic meal, as always. We were seated in the main room which was a bit loud. Other than that, five stars.
City House is a "not miss" stop in Nashville. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and on point. While they're known for their pizza, the pastas are incredible. I had the gnocchi, which were so tender and homy, reminiscent of childhood at grandmas. Save room for dessert!
Been years since I visited City House and yet the quality here has remained consistent. Food and service are top-notch.
Loved everything except the lighting - harsh unflattering track lighting from above made for an odd look.
Exceeded expectations! I came here with a group on the recommendation of a coworker. The fresh ingredients, careful preparation, and great flavor combined for an awesome evening. My group needed to make some last minute adjustments and it was handled with great professionalism.

Phenomenal! Food and service were both top notch. Our server was very kind and patient with our inability to make a decision! Haha but once we did, the food was immaculate. Their pizzas are lovely and cooked via a wood fired oven. We also had the chicken and pesto pasta, both out of this world. And topped it all off with some of the best carrot cake ive ever had. Highly recommend City House!

Awesome authentic atmosphere, great food. I ordered the belly ham pizza which was cooked to perfection! Crispy crust! Great service! Nice job Hannah! Great bar + pizza bar where you can see the food being prepared.

I don’t normally write reviews but this place lived up to the NYTs hype. The tomato and cheesy mayo pizza had a delicious balance of freshness, zest and spice and the crust was charred to perfection. The Tennessee waltz cake was some of the best cake I’ve ever had. Staff was friendly, although service was a little slow. Despite having a res, I was sat at the bar but was worth it to watch everything being cooked in front of you

No complaints with server, ordered a plain cheese pizza and it was littered with garlic. Seated 16" from another table, noise is so loud your shouting to the people your dining with rather than having a conversation.

Only been to City House once but enjoyed my visit. We had some apps and pizzas and really enjoyed all of the food. The corn pizza was my fav dish.
We sat on the porch which can be quite hot during summer evenings, so be cognizant if you’re offered to sit outside on a warm evening!

over priced! poor food quality. were not able to make a Manhattan due to no vermouth. Out of several items on menu. Old fashion served with no ice. High expectations but left very disappointed.
