This was my first time trying Gio’s. I’m a true Chicago South Side born and raised girl. Been in Nashville for almost 2yrs, so needless to say, I’ve been missing me some Chicago style deep dish pizza. Greg the owner was fantastic! We chatted it up for a few, and he even reached out to me the next day to see what I thought. I told him I was gonna be honest, and give my honest opinion of what I thought. First let me start by saying for the size pizza I received, the price was definitely a plus! I would have paid at least $10 more for the same size back at home. So I was happy about that considering how expensive food can be down here. Now, let’s get to it. I’m a diehard Giordanos lover. So deep dish is my thing. Lou Malnati’s is a close second. I ordered a deep dish sausage pizza. I thought the crust could have been thicker, and buttery. The sauce wasn’t bad, although the sausage had a different flavor than what I’m accustomed to with Giordanos pizzas. I’m really picky about sausage, so it’s hard for me to give an unbiased opinion. I also thought the cheese wasn’t gooey enough if that makes any sense. I eat my deep dish with a fork and knife. When I cut, and stick my fork in, and lift I’m used to gooey cheese being pulled away from the plate. But like I said, I’m picky about my pizza. I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life so I can distinguish different pizzas with my eyes closed. But in comparison to other pizza that I have had since I’ve been here, Gio’s is by far better than those other pizza places, hands down! Now thin crust, I’m sorry, I’m a Home Run Inn girl till the day I die! No compromising there! LOL! Try Gio’s out, you won’t be disappointed! ?

I looked at the pictures and decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did, the food was outstanding and the portions were generous. I would absolutely order food here again. The deep dish pizza and wings were great.

Moving to Nashville from Chicago meant leaving the amazing pizza (Lou Malnati's) behind. I usually order 312 Pizza (it is pretty good, not great), but saw a friend post about Gios and was excited to give it a try. Thank goodness I ordered both thin crust and deep dish. Thin crust was decent, but deep dish was inedible. The crust had a rubbery texture and was a huge disappointment. Tossed it in the garbage, such a waste of money. Was super hopeful.

The company is full of kind and lively individuals who put passion behind what they do. Unfortunately you can't dine-in. The food is a bit pricey but definitely worth it, I would recommend everyone to try food from this company.

I happened to come across a “Look Up the Best Regional Pizza in your State” interactive map from the Washington Post where Gio’s was listed for tavern style in Tenn. I hadn’t heard of them before but I live 10 mins away. I am quite fond of Chicago and enjoy the food scene there, so I decided to try out Gio’s.Tavern pepperoni was delicious (I should’ve taken a before pic - take my word for it, the pizza looked beautiful). That cracker like crust, sauce, cheese, and pepperoni all played well together. On top of that, the guys there were super friendly so I will definitely be back!Try them out if you’re a tavern pizza lover, the deep dish pics looked good too.
