Hattie B’s Hot Chicken – A True Nashville Experience!

My wife and I decided to DoorDash Hattie B’s for a real Nashville hot chicken experience, and we were impressed that everything arrived fresh despite delivery.

The

We went all in and ordered:
• Southern (no heat) half bird with fries
• Hot wings with fries
• Medium chicken sandwich (hot) with fries
• Another order of hot wings
• Medium chicken plate
• Mac & cheese (not the highlight, but still solid)

The spice levels are accurate—even medium packs a real kick, and hot has just enough heat without being overwhelming. Everything was crispy, juicy, and full of flavor—exactly what you’d want from Nashville hot chicken.

Freshness (Even with Delivery!): 5/5

Despite using DoorDash, the food arrived hot and crispy with no loss of texture or quality.

The

We spent $92 for a full experience. It’s a little pricey, but for the portion sizes and quality, it was worth it.

Final Thoughts: Would We Return?

Absolutely! Hattie B’s is definitely a must-try for anyone looking for authentic Nashville hot chicken. Would we go back? Yes. Would we go back in the same week? Probably not!

Pro Tip: If ordering delivery, Hattie B’s does a great job keeping the food fresh—so it’s a great option if you don’t want to wait in line downtown.

I was in the Nashville location on 1/28 during my visit to the area. It was packed but everything moved quickly, efficiently and the staff was so very friendly to everyone. That didn’t stop just at the start but all throughout our time there. The lady helping us (her name was Isis, I believe) even followed back up with us on something. Her and the manager went above and beyond to take care of us on something we didn’t even ask them to. Btw, nothing happened, they were just out of something, it came back in and they took care of us. A measure most would not do but she found us and made sure to take care. Now THAT is friendly customer service! The food is so amazing, y’all. This is going to be my new joint for every single visit to Nashville from now on. Hot dayum!!

Super tasty chicken- even better service. If it’s out of your way, or on your way to the airport, it’s so worth it! From the floats and fried pickles to the sauce and the fall off the bone chicken- they’ve got the flavors covered.

I have mixed feelings. About 10 years ago I had Hattie Bs for the first time at the original, or one of the original spots (can't remember). It was phenomenal. So phenomenal that 10 years later I wanted to stop for dinner on our trip to Gatlinburg. It just wasn't the same. Dont get me wrong, the hot chicken was still good flavor, but the tenders were smaller, tougher. The sides weren't as good as we remember. It just didn't strike us as the amazing it was before; which we did actually wonder, being they have spread out so much, whether it would be the same. I would say it's not, but I also wouldn't avoid it, because at the end of the day, it's still some great hot chicken.

We were told this is a MUST when visiting Nashville. We went to the Country Music Hall of Fame then over to Hattie B's for lunch. The line went around the corner and down the street!! We waited over an hour to get to the order window of this famous establishment. The service was excellent but the place was just overloaded with people. It was definitely WORTH THE WAIT! My wife and I both ordered the Leg/Thigh. I got the Mild heat and that was plenty for me! The sides of Greens, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad and Black Eyed Pea salad were delicious!

You have to deserve it, the line was already long at 11:30 am, the chicken was tender and crispy, I had chosen hot, it was not very strong, if you like spicy food you can take the next level. The staff was nice and despite the line took the time to advise.

If you ever go to Nashville, you must go to Hattie B’s. The chicken is really good. The restaurant is always busy with the line but worth it.. it goes pretty fast. A must.

Simple delicious menu- Sampled many items around the table of friends. Beans, Creamy grits, peach cobler.. Oh and the chicken sandwich with slaw-delicious! No complaints among us. Great staff that works as as a team! Nothing fancy here just good cooking!

I do not eat hot food…until now! This was the best chicken I have ever eaten. I loved the root beer float and hot chicken;mild tenders. The peach cobbler is amazing! I went to the location by Legends Corner/Food Assembly Hall (5th&Broadway Pl. area) it had a line but it moved quickly, maybe 10min wait-line wrapped around corner. This is a must!!! I will return.

We originally walked past and started waiting at the downtown location, but after the line barely moved and some reviews there suggested it could be over an hour wait on a lunchtime, we decided to walk down to the Midtown spot closer to our hotel instead. There was still a line, but it was always slowing moving, and it took maybe 45 minutes from joining to getting our food, and food came out pretty quickly after ordering. It was definitely worth the wait - probably the best fried chicken we’ve ever had in terms of flavour without being too greasy. My wife can’t handle spice and found the mild level to have enough heat for her, and I enjoyed it as a medium without blowing my head off. Sides of collard greens, cheesy grits, and crinkle fries were great too. In retrospect, I would have got a pot of the same sauce that was in the sandwich though as it was really good.

Although I don't have a lot of experience with "hot" chicken, Hattie B's was still quite good. My only complaint was the long line to order and even longer wait to get my food. But given that it's a popular tourist restaurant, what do you expect?

This place is NOT celiac safe ordered gf grilled chicken meal. Waited over an hour and a half for there to be a piece of bread under my chicken. Sides where good though. Pretty much ALL of the other places I got to eat where celiac safe.

The lines loop around the block. It must take at least 45 min between waiting in line, ordering, and eating. So, plan accordingly. Its a small seating area. If you have an opportunity to eat somewhere else, do so. Order to go! We got chicken tenders, the spice level is off the charts. You can't imagine how hot it can be until you take a bite. We went the second level hot route, and you definitely need fries, white bread, and a drink to cool you down. I can't even imagine the enthusiasts' route. Its very flavorful. Fries and beans were good as well. Its a tourist spot!

The wait was annoying and I wondered if it would be worth it….. but wow! Probably the best meal I have ever eaten… and I’ve eaten in Michelin star restaurants !
