The restaurant is very nice and in a good location. Old school steakhouse vibes. I got a table in the bar area so there was live music but it could be loud, so if you are on a date or having a family dinner and want to talk you may want to sit in the dining room. Steak was very good and cooked to the proper temperature. Service was good and they had the perfect sized cupcake for a late night birthday celebration. The only reason I am rating 4 stars is because of the sushi. The server sold us on “the best sushi in Nashville “ and I am a fan of Otoro so I ordered some. It must have been late in the day and long down the tail of the selection because it was nowhere near Otoro, Chutoro at best. Large strip of connective tissue right down the middle of all pieces. You can’t talk me in to something and then fall that short. Overall a good experience though.
Excellent meal served by Dakota! Everything was great, served perfectly as ordered, prompt and professionally. We traveled in from Louisville with our only objective to eat at Jeff Ruby's and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended! Thanks again Dakota for a wonderful meal!
Service and food were impeccable . We went for a birthday. The bar and piano player were stunning.
I have a healthy appreciation for a good server. Typically you get talent OR authenticity. Paul & Lewis were BOTH talent, AND they were truly genuine. Best service I've had at any restaurant, hands down. I also had never had a blackened steak. Blackened Ribeye was a game changer!
Steak was amazing. Salads, sides and dessert were just ok. Our wait staff were very attentive.
Myself and two of my girlfriends were in Nashville Monday night for a benefit concert and we had dinner at Jeff Ruby's prior to the show. It was such a perfect experience from the beginning to end. I would highly recommend giving them a try if you are looking for a fine dining experience in Nashville at an absolutely beautiful restaurant!
We had the best time here on a parents night out. Our server Jacob and everyone else who worked there was wonderful. There was a nice live band providing ambience but not distracting. The ruby roll was to die for. Delicious salad, sides, and steak. Get the carrot cake if you want a treat after!
If you’ve ever wondered whether a fine-dining experience is truly worth treating yourself to—whether the indulgence justifies the anticipation—allow me to put your worries to rest, one ruby-red detail at a time. Our evening at Jeff Ruby’s in Nashville unfolded like a polished gemstone: expertly cut, luxuriously gleaming, and absolutely worth treasuring. We arrived as a couple looking to savor the city, and left feeling as though we’d been personally ushered into the upper echelons of culinary care. Benton, our server, guided the meal with the poise of a seasoned maître d’, equal parts warm and impeccably attentive. And as if choreographed with quiet elegance, Andre ensured our table remained immaculate, comfortable, and ready for each course that followed. Their teamwork elevated the night from “special” to signature. The Courses – An Ensemble of Excellence The evening opened with the jumbo shrimp cocktail, a quartet so generously sized it bordered on theatrical—crisp, cold, and accompanied by a cocktail sauce bold enough to announce the meal had begun. Our salads arrived fresh and finely balanced, a thoughtful interlude before the star performances. And oh, the entrees. The New York strip delivered a deep, confident sear, while the filet arrived tender as a whispered compliment—both cooked with the precision that defines a steakhouse of real stature. Paired with mashed potatoes whipped into cloudlike luxury and asparagus that maintained its bite, the meal felt flawlessly paced and profoundly satisfying. But let me tip my hat to one of the evening’s most unexpected joys: the sourdough with truffle butter. If the meal were a concert, this would be the surprising solo that brings the crowd to its feet. Sweet Finales & Spirited Notes Dessert was a decadent butter pie crowned with vanilla ice cream, rich enough to silence conversation for a moment—and that silence was praise enough. Our Woodford Old Fashioneds, including a beautifully smooth Double Oaked, were crafted with a bartender’s love for balance. Each sip paired effortlessly with the richness of the evening. For Those Still Debating a Splurge… If you’ve hesitated, wondering whether to indulge in a night as polished as a ruby itself—consider this your sign. Jeff Ruby’s doesn’t simply serve dinner; it curates an experience that celebrates you for choosing to be there. It’s a place where comfort and class intertwine, where every detail feels intentional, and where guests—first-timers and regulars alike—are treated as though they’ve been expected. For a couple out enjoying the city, or for anyone debating whether they deserve a night like this: you do. And Jeff Ruby’s will meet you with warmth, brilliance, and a full-course memory worth savoring long after the final bite. A true Nashville gem—polished, plated, and perfected.
Amazing night out! My wife and I had an elegant dinner at this upscale restaurant. It was the perfect spot before attending a performance of The Outsiders at TPAC. We will definitely be making reservations the next time we see a show at TPAC.
Went on a crowded Saturday evening. The band,On Call, was outstanding. Drinks were slow to arrive as was dinner. Not a problem for our group as we weren't in a hurry. All had steak. Steak and sides were excellent. Perfectly cooked. Everything was a la carte but one side was enough for two. The shrimp on the Bourbon fillet was cooked just right. Beignets were okay. Server was very friendly but not on par with a high-end restaurant.

Fantastic service. Will definitely be back again!
Fantastic meal in one of the private rooms. We were a party of 10, The food and service was perfect. The menu recognized the guest of honors special day. We started with sushi and other apps. The bluefin sushi was perfect. The ceasar salad was good but a little to lemony. The steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned. We ordered a few too many appetizers. Dessert was the golden boot-a perfect way to end the meal. I look forward to coming back soon.
Simply outstanding service, but the food was subpar. I expected great things from the spicy cornbread but it was super dense with no flavor. 12oz filet was just OK but cost $94. Asparagus was hard (undercooked) and the sourdough bread was blackened and far too crunchy. The best item was the meatball on cheesy grits.

The best steak I've ever had. Service was just right and the room was cozy, perfect for date night or group and noise level was busy but easy to carry a conversation.
