I’m a Mongolian and sushi connoisseur and this is one of best places I have been. Owner is fantastic. Would 100 percent go back. Live in raleigh but absolutely go back every visit.

Don’t walk, run to this place! And funny be deterred by the appearance, it is a hole in the wall, but usually those are the best places. Seriously the food was fantastic. We ordered Mongolian and a bunch of sushi rolls. My kids were so impressed by the flavors added to their very basic rolls. We will be back for sure!! Our new fav place for sushi!

Amazing. One of the best Nigiri I’ve had even compared to much pricier ones. Wonderful topping selection, great hand technique, and especially awesome cooked fish.Special thanks to the earlier review that said “don’t leave when you first walk-in” - yes it may not look like a typical sushi restaurant.Absolute highlight of our Nashville trip.

Please Don't leave when you walk in the door. While the place may not look like a 5-star sushi resturant, it is. This resturant is a gem and totally worth a visit.Chef came from Miami to help a friend open a sushi bar in Nashville. His sushi is top notch. He and I talked about his fish and he showed me some pictures. Why doesn't he do sushi takeout. He says the delivery temp in the car ride ruins the taste of the fish. That Impressed me alot! He said you have to eat sushi fresh, I completely agree. Another thing that impressed me was that he makes his own sauces, including his own soy sauce. Many sushi rolls need soy sauce with some wasabi to give them a bit of juice and salt. Chef makes every roll seasoned perfectly for how he made the roll. Unless he serves it with a sauce, it probably doesn't need it.I have not eat at many of the sushi restaurants in Nashville but this is one of the best ones that I've eaten at anywhere, and I've eaten in Japan. The rolls I had were complex and flavorful. When I say complex, I mean multiple flavors hitting your pallette at different times.Rolls pictured below are theOver the Rainbow rollWhite snow roll.Thank you Chef for letting me dine in your resturant.

The food was excellent and fresh, and not only that, it was filling; I’ll stop here for lunch a lot more! Pro tip: Remember to stop at the buffet booth and grab an order slip to order your food.

I got the crunchy shrimp roll, and my mom got a bowl she built with shrimp and chicken and Chef offered a sauce that he made from scratch. Both were excellent and packed with flavor. Highly recommend!!!

Poor quality, food is expensive and waiting time are extremely long. I was the only person in there and it took him 30 mins to get this rubbish to me???!!!

The guy working there is rude as hell. And he asks for a tip before you even eat. If you don’t tip he will call you out. How do I know I’ll even like the food?! Shouldn’t I try it first before deciding if I want to tip? Also place is in rough condition. There’s no parking options. And he forgot my rice. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!!

To clarify this is NOT an all you can eat this an omakase(set menu) for $55. They usual start the omakase from 1:30pm. There was only one guy manning the whole operation so service was slower than usual. That said the set menu was very tasty and delicious. Feels bad cause I thought I was going to be stuffed leaving the restaurant, but the unique flavor made up for it. Would come back and try the bowls they looked good too.

This place was amazing. I went last year. A homeless guy came in and i bought him a pepsi lol. Rio said dont do that they will come back. Anyway, the sushi is great and he has rare sushi no one has. He also makes sashimi from actually fish , instead of the pre packed fish filets. Stuff like salmon toro, sea bream, trout, and other rarely if ever seen at other sushi places. The only thing missing is anago sea eel. If you never have had anago it is way better to me than fresh water normal eel. Sonny Bono is the only one that has it but Rio overall is a step above. People say he is rude but he is just shy at first. He was short with me at first till I made a effort to get to know him and didnt judge him because he didnt speak perfect english. People can be cruel. If you love nigiri and sashimi and want something different and fresh, he is your man. I spent 45 dollars. 50 plus drink and tax. i gave him a 10 buck tip. Got the mostly all you can eat lunch for 45. i got 8 pairs of nigiri and 2 sashimi and a roll. I was stuffed and he offered more. I mean if you try and eat him out of business he would probably cut you off but sushi ain't cheap. He said it is better to come after 3:30 because he has more things prepared and calling ahead helps. I also am a elite on yelp.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but Chef Rio is more than deserving! The Omakase experience was amazing. The precision and care Chef Rio puts into his sushi preparation reflects in the flavorful dishes. Every dish had its own unique combination of flavoring that paired perfectly with the fish used. I will definitely be coming back! It was so exciting to find such a high end sushi restaurant in TN. It is definitely one of those hole in the wall places, but the food will not disappoint!

Stating this place as the best Omakase in Nashville, is no exaggeration. The inviting demeanor of Chef Rio, along with high quality and delicious food made an exceptional experience for my friends and I. We will definitely be returning. Loved it so much I was sad when the meal was over. Extremely skilled Chef ?

We were in Nashville for a show, and wanted to eat somewhere different. Never heard of the place, so we decided to give it a shot. So, SO delicious! We will be back! Felt a little sad that the place wasn't busy. The owner was there and we were chatting with him. A group of folks came up to the door, opened it, paused and left. The owner thinks maybe because the food bar was empty that they were closed. Lemme tell you- anybody who 'almost' chooses to eat here and then doesn't- misses out!

Came here on a Thursday night for the omakase and oh my goodness! This place is a huge gem in a city where it has been difficult to find legit sushi that doesn't cost an arm and a leg for what you get! I left amazed and extremely full!Had various nigiris and 2 rolls and honestly between my husband and I, we could not finish the rolls towards the end. I'm more of a nigiri and sashimi girl so i wasn't a huge fan of the rolls because they are heavier but nonetheless all still very flavorful! Chef knew exactly the right combination of sauces to make that would go perfectly with each type of fish. My favorite was the hamachi toro! It literally melted in my mouth! Second fav would definitely have to be the amberjack which was so fresh and light with a dash of ponzu sauce on top. I could literally go on and on about every bite but you just have to try it out for yourselves!I can't wait to come back to try his off menu items as well. He mentioned that he has ramen and udon as well but will only serve to customers who dine in because food, especially noodles, taste different if you get it to go. I definitely recommend checking out this hole in the wall omakase experience!

Parking: we ended up paying for parking in the garage that's a little down the street. It was about $10 but there is some metered parking options as well nearby.
