This place is the best dining experience I had while I was in Nashville. The food was excellent, including the free popcorn at the bar, the staff was so friendly and the history of this place makes it remarkable. Please note that they are Temporarily Closed due to remodeling, can't wait to see what they done. It is definitely a must do when in Nashville.

Today, I travel alone on my pride Go Go car. I'm on Mass Avenue and she is a buzz with students and families getting settled in for college. As Lawrence Kansas had 3 universities to name; we are a cool place to be in Kansas. Everywhere I look I can see myself so many years ago. The difference of course is that I was in Boston and settling into a new city; as well as hunting for an affordable apartment in the most expensive city to go to grad school - way back then. My life partner was driving our pearl- shaded Sunbird with its gorgoesu red leather interior. And back then we were looking cool in our patogonia shorts on our tanned legss; and there was a U-Haul hooked on back; as we were moving to Boston from Springfield, MO. Springfield MO had just been rated by Places Rated Almanac is the most afforable small city for college students to live in. But o course our objectives in study were quite different that mine are these day when I chose The Merchant Restaurant as THE PLACE to dining and show my relatives or new friends.

Omg so we stopped by this restaurant while we were on a weekend getaway to Nashville last year and I honestly wanted to try authentic southern food. We were not disappointed. I ordered the Buttermilk fried chicken and the collard greens were amazing!!! My boyfriend ordered the Jambalaya which he said tasted great and full of flavor. The fried green tomatoes were delicious as well. Loved the mini popcorn they gave us. Our drinks were dope AF too don't remember what they were but they were fabulous. Absolutely loved thr decor and vibes of this establishment I genuinely can not wait to go back to Nashville just to eat here again! Absolutely highly recommend this restaurant give them all of your money!

It was a great stop on our sightseeing bus tour of the city. It has a great old wood building aroma. Lots of old machinery and memorabilia from another time. The guys loved it! They enjoyed the bourbon? tasting and the ladies checked out the cute shops..
