As a recent transplant from the East coast, I’ve been looking for a good deli and was hopeful about Mitchell after reading the reviews. Overall, my experience was so-so.

I got a Reuben with pastrami (not sure why that’s an up-charge but fine), a Lox sandwich on a plain bagel, and an everything bagel with plain cream cheese.

The Reuben was pretty good on the inside—tasty pastrami, dressing, and sauerkraut. But the bread tasted a bit stale. Not bad 4/5.

The bagels though... The fillings were good—nicely whipped cream cheese and fresh Lox and good capers. But the bagels themselves were disappointing. Super soft and squishy with almost no “skin” on them. they tasted more like soft white bread than a dense chewy bagel. Also, not a big deal at all, but the bagel was cut super weird which made sharing difficult.

I might come back for a sandwich, but am still searching for a passable bagel here.

The roast beef sandwich at Mitchell Delicatessen was huge and full of flavor.

I'm not able to go to this location like I used to. Whenever I've had lunch or dinner it's been fine.
The last two times I've had their breakfast I've been disappointed.
The gravy on the biscuit was like sticky oatmeal. I miss the cranberry almond oatmeal they use to have at the old location and whatever music they had playing this last time was terrible.

I enjoy this place. I get a kick out of the staff and the ambiance is fine. However, I don't think these sandwiches are made out to be the best they can be. Ordered the Italian sandwich and it was almost pressed flat. Kind of squashed the tomatoes on the sandwich.

I am traveling and looked up reviews for a good Reuben sandwich and this came up. I went there and it seemed to be a nice neighborhood sandwich place. Parking is tricky only like 6 spots to park in that I saw. I didn’t get welcomed when I entered so. I went up to the counter and the guy was not friendly so I just ordered. Paid and sat down and waited for my sandwich. Didn’t take long but the sandwich in my opinion was ok. Wasn’t great and to me was no better than something made at home. I was disappointed to say the least. The bread tasted a little stale and not much effort in making the sandwich by the looks of it. I would not recommend this place

Loved the Pastrami sandwiches here and had so many other classic deli choices I could have gone for. Comfortable seating area and a nice canopied outdoor patio as well. Good service topped off an all-around excellent experience dining here. We had a bit of a wait for the food, but it was worth it. The deli was constantly busy and clearly a hot spot for lunch. I'm so glad I was able to experience this while in town. I'll be back on the next trip.

I love Mitchell's Deli's sandwiches and that they offer chicken salad pre-packed to take home as well. The breads and ingredients are fresh, innovative, and local. I only wish they were open later than 4 at least a couple of days as I don't work nearby therenand had more convenient parking options. I suppose it is a sign of a successful business when the deli stays busy all day, though! 😊

Amazing food! Staff seemed disinterested is our being there. The hoagie bread was fantastic. Bacon was smokey and tasted incredibly fresh. Produce was also amazing fresh. Excellent meats and lots of choices. Very comfortable tables and chairs and great AC.

Great experience here! Had a French dip and it was super good. Exactly what I needed.

They ran out of BEC and SEC sandwiches which I was bummed about, but not the end of the world.

Great little deli with plenty of great options.

Huge sandwich for less than $11. So nice that the vegan options don’t feel like afterthoughts.

Why did it take me so long to discover this place? Best sandwich I have had in a long time. Service and atmosphere were GREAT! We will be back soon.

Two sandwiches, two chips, two drinks…$40. Sandwiches just mediocre. A let down. Too many other good places in Nashville.

Good service. Cool place.

Honestly, I think it's the best Reuben I've had and I eat them everytime I see it on a menu. It's a sandwich that melts in your mouth. You barely need teeth! I didn't know that was possible. Would eat 3x/week if I lived here.

GF eater here. I love that Mitchell Deli hasn’t changed much over the years. It still has the same hippie/Asheville vibe it’s always had. They use quality ingredients and smoke their own meats, which makes the neighborhood smell delicious. Since going gluten-free, though, I don’t enjoy it as much. The GF bread is just bad—so dry it ruins the rest of the sandwich. (There are GF local bakeries doing decent bread, guys!) If you have an allergy be sure to ask for it cold (they use shared toasters), or getting just the filling in a box is an option too. But in the past 6 months, 50% of our takeout orders have gotten my order wrong. Last week I ordered the Pacino, which is basically a turkey sandwich with pesto. The pesto is amazing and makes the sandwich. Mine came with balsamic and no pesto. Stuff like that, where you don’t even discover it until you’re home and you’re stuck with the wrong sandwich, leaves a bad taste in your mouth. But man, when I wasn’t GF, it was the bomb except for the occasional burnt toast.

Tuna sandwich is served warm with cheese on it🤦‍♂️
Beef brisket has onion jam , mustard , pickle and slaw that overwhelms you and you cannot taste the brisket.🤦‍♂️

KISS rule applies to your sandwiches; have traditional pastrami, tuna, brisket and corned beef sandwiches and leave all the additional stuff as add on items if you want to add them to your sandwich.

Owner needs to Visit Katz’s Deli in NYC as that is what a deli sandwich should be like.
