Went on a Thursday around 1, waited about 20-25 min. Worth it though. Got the chicken tenders (medium spice level) which was the perfect heat, the fries were perfectly seasoned and were crispy but I wished they were slightly hotter (I like my fries piping hot out the fryer). 10/10 recommend.

I’m not even sure who first told me about Red’s Hot Chicken, but I’m glad they did. It’s a little shack — totally nondescript — with no real seating and just a walk-up window next to one of Nashville’s oldest bars (which dates back to the Prohibition era). When you order, they tell you upfront how long it’ll take, and in our case, it was about 30–35 minutes. Later, the wait stretched closer to an hour, but honestly, it was worth every minute.
There wasn’t much of a line outside, which was misleading because they clearly had a ton of orders queued up inside. We ordered the medium chicken strips and the crunch wrap — and both were absolutely incredible. Easily one of the highlights of our weekend in Nashville.
It’s the definition of unassuming: simple setup, no frills, just amazing food. Grab a casual beer next door or hang out while you wait. When we went, there was a huge arts-and-crafts event going on behind the restaurant with thousands of people, so I imagine on a normal weekend the wait would be shorter.
This was the cheapest meal we had all weekend, yet it made us smile the most. If you’re in Nashville and want what I’d call the best hot chicken in town, don’t miss Red’s. Totally worth the stop.

Fried Fish was amazing. Hot level is super hot so watch out. Owner was there he came out and threw our trash. Really down to earth and friendly. Across from the park, which was good bc there were lots of flies under the awning and in the bar tables so we ate at the park.

We are Nashville hot chicken for every meal on our recent trip to Nashville and this was the best of the lot. Totally worth going out of your way to get. There’s often a wait, but there’s a lot to do in the area such as walking down to the nearby Pantheon. The attached bar is also a good place to kill time. It’s cash only, but there’s an ATM inside and they’ll call your order number if they don’t find you outside.

I don’t eat spicy food. But! I had to try this place because I’ve heard it was great! I got the mild chicken and it was so delicious, crispy, and moist and tender inside! The macaroni and cheese and coleslaw were so delicious and the flavors unique. Service was friendly and quick. I highly recommend Red’s!

Wonderful food, great service. Worth the price. The hot chicken was hot but dies down within 5 minutes which is perfect. The mild gives you a little bit of heat but plenty of enjoyment. Theres a bar for seating if you dont want to sit on their barstools. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Nashville.

Chicken sandwich, medium heat with fries…demolished too fast. Juicy chicken tenders, and yummy seasoned fries. Small little, hole in the wall joint, but they make their chicken dishes fresh and the 15-20 min wait was worth it. Also a lovely short walk from Parthenon.
