I’ve gone back and forth on writing this review, as I’ve really enjoyed Rosepepper over the years and have recommended it to many people.
Over the past month, I’ve visited twice. I note that because after the first visit, I gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt.
Unfortunately, the second visit left me with the same poor impression.
On both occasions, the attitude of the staff felt off. There was a noticeable sense of entitlement and what I describe as “sassiness” (for lack of a better word) from the servers.
I genuinely felt like I was an inconvenience for being there, and they didn’t seem shy about making that clear.
The food was about the same as it’s always been — solid, not amazing, but typically reliable. That said, the energy was noticeably lower, and the fun, upbeat “Rosepepper vibe” that once defined the place just wasn’t there anymore.
Looking back, after reflection, I think a lot of that has to do with the front-of-house staff.
The overall experience seems to have shifted.

The customer service was painfully slow, and the lighting inside was so dark it felt unpleasant. The food was an absolute disaster — it came out cold, tasteless, and completely unappetizing. This is, without a doubt, the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at, truly the bottom of the barrel. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Honestly, I’d rather eat at Taco Bell a hundred times over than ever come back here.

Fabulous marinated steak and chicken fajitas, cheese enchiladas were so on point and even the salsa and chips were freshly made and delicious! Atmosphere is fun, great spot to meet up with friends and service was great. Some free parking in the back fyi which is nice--add Rosepeppers to your do list and enjoy east nashville my friends. 😉
Wonderful food great service and the chips and salsa comes quick the drinks are amazing highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Rosepepper came to our neighborhood in 2000 and we were excited that there would be a local restaurant so close to our house. Over time, and especially since the original owner passed away and his daughter took over, the quality of the food and drinks has gone down considerably. Also, since we are older now it was obvious they were seating us as far in the back as they could. Irksome since I had supported them in their early days. Won't be back even though they are about a 2 min walk from my house. There are many better Mexican restaurants in East Nash now ( El Fuego, Las Fiestas) so we won't be back.

Decent food. We were there at an odd time of day and seemed to get forgotten. I had to get up to find our server. He was really nice though. I think we were just there during transition though he said he still had an hour left on his shift. I'd still go back

Came for drinks and some good eating, enjoyed both. We arrived about an hour before closing time and were met with smiles and great service. Food came out fresh, prefect, and surprisingly quick.
