The freshest doughnut I’ve ever had! I got a cinnamon twist and the flavor was awesome, slight crunch but soft in the middle, and still warm. I will definitely come here again!

For being the sixth highest-rated donut joint in the city based on user reviews, Shipleys is a colossal disappointment! I don't know why the ratings are so skewed and how this particular Shipley's gets away with it. But patrons must not be tasting what this donut afficionado is. Of course. I wouldn't say the average Shipley's customer is very discerning. So let's face it, this is nothing more than a national chain of 382 stores that peddles mediocre pastries to turn a profit while failing to regulate local quality. It's essentially the McDonald's of donuts.
Any time I stop by at midday, they haven't made enough donuts to last that long and haven't seemed to make additional batches either. Only the dregs remain on the shelves with the most popular options long gone. And even when I come by in the morning, the donuts taste surprisingly stale for so early in the day. I have to wonder how that's possible and if they were made very early or just recycled from the previous day. It's a poorly run store that's just another outlet for a giant, overrated franchise. Pick any local mom-and-pop donut shop and you'll find a much better product.
I'm done giving Shipley's chances to impress me and tired of stale donuts and empty shelves. So while my daily drive takes me right past their store, I'm finally abandoning convenience and driving across town for the superior donut choices in East Nasty, Wilco, even nearby Madison, and beyond.

Excellent donuts!!! Full service bakery and it’s become a tradition to get Shipley’s at least 2-3 Saturday mornings every month. Family favorite is their Maple Glazed donut but anything else you might choose would be wonderful.

So, I just added this to "places I have to stop when in Nashville"!
The Do-Nuts were so good I didn't remember to take photos until the last one lol! I love how the icings are sweet but not too sweet. My favorite part is how there is the perfect crisp to the donuts with the inside remaining a fluffy delicacy. I also had a coconut and strawberry cake donut.
The prices are perfect and you can easily fill up on 2-4 donuts depending your appetite! Service was friendly and I love the local location. Few tables available if you want to eat there.
Bottom line, really dang good donuts at a really dang good price!

Quick service. Tasty, fresh selection. The maple iced are an all-time fave. Clean and bright dining room. Adequate free parking but busy street can make for tricky entry and exit. Be careful!

Staff were great, donuts were fresh, bathroom was spotless. Ahh and Kolache was perfect. Shipley's is a chain, this place was probably the cleanest and freshest one I have been to. Not saying the chain is bad, just overall I was really impressed.
