Atmosphere is what you’d expect for a donut shop, but LAWS YES, are these donuts life changing! First timer here, so my expectations were tempered. I came in to order a few food props for filming, my wife ordered a simple chocolate cake donut. Service was friendly, fast, super efficient. I can vouch for the fritters, bear claws, and donuts- top notch. They don’t overwork the dough, the taste was spectacular, and I will definitely be back. I can easily see this being our go-to spot!

Their blueberry donut 🤤 is soooo good! My husband went in for a chocolate sprinkle donut and the sweet worker gave him a couple of freebies. Everything we get is always delicious and the shop is clean. We love Shipley Do-Nuts in Donelson!

Stopped in on a Saturday morning and was surprised how quickly we were at the counter. Small space and parking so plan to take to go, but wow! I got a maple glazed and some donut holes. Drool! The yeast donuts were so delicate they melted in your mouth. Not to sweet with the perfect chew. I'm sad I'm so far away from them, but that's probably a blessing for my waste line. Run, don't walk to get these! I will be back any time I'm in Nashville!

Everything at Shipleys really was almost perfect. The reason that I gave it 4 stars was the tip that they asked for. I parked my car, walked inside the bldg, went through the line, ordered and watched the girl reach into the case and retrieve my selection. I watched her ring up the total and I paid her. I carried my doughnuts out. Did she deserve extra money beside her hourly wage? I felt pressured to pay it which killed my mood.

Was in town for a visit staying a nearby hotel. Grabbed a 1/2 dozen. Easily the best glazed donut I’ve ever had. Service was fast and friendly despite the crowd.
Best donuts ever. Much better than Krispy Kreme, Dunkin or Timmy’s. Very nice staff. Very good prices.

Alright, let’s talk about it.
I pulled up to Shively’s in Donelson and grabbed that sausage and cheese croissant — no egg. Off rip, that joint was struggle-wrapped. Croissant wasn’t even all the way opened, meat was hanging out like it clocked in late and didn’t care. Dry. Sad. Disrespectful, even. Taste-wise? That sandwich was a cold 2 outta 10. Ain’t no way I’m letting that slide past quality control — not tasty approved.
BUT — let’s talk redemption. I had to double back with an apple fritter, and okay… now we talkin’! Crispy, glazed right, edges hittin’, and it didn’t fall apart like some cheap ones do. That fritter brought the score up. Saved the review from a total shutdown. I like mine soft but that crispy texture lowkey worked.
Inside? Spotless. Folks was in and out, so the community rock with it — and I can’t knock that. Just not my vibe on that croissant at all.
Final Say: 🥐 Croissant? Nah, don’t even waste your mouth. 🍎 Apple Fritter? Worth the visit. 🧼 Clean environment, friendly traffic.
Verdict: 3/5 – Respectable but not Tayst Approved. Sandwich needs a whole rework.
