SS Gai is in a small little strip of restaurants, and they all serve different foods. So if you have picky eaters, fret not. That being said, I don't think anybody with taste buds wouldn't like this chicken. It's super fuego. And the toasted coconut water, maybe a bit frivolous, but also super fuego. There were families with kids running around, and all sorts of folks having a good time with good food. Go to SS Gai. Do it.

I love this place! Love the grill chicken with the freshest salad anyone can ever imagine! Spice rub is what gets you into the flavors! And love the sauce!

My husband and I both got the Thai Chicken Sandwich. This is the kind of place that will give you food dreams and intense cravings. They got everything right from the bun, to the cook on the chicken, to the crispy breading, and freshness with the garnishes. It's honestly the perfect chicken sandwich. Thank you SS Gai for ruining all other chicken sandwiches for us. The bar has been raised. Their Thai tea also was amazing and they even had a dairy free option.
We will 100% be back and can't wait to share this gem with all our friends and family!

Great spot for gluten free fried chicken, papaya salad, and other Thai flavors. Both the fried chicken and grilled chicken were excellent - flavorful, crispy, and juicy. The papaya salad was unique and very tasty. Hard to find a good green papaya salad here in the US. Great team taking orders and delivering food to tables. The outdoor seating area is nothing fancy, but works and the overhead heaters work well to keep you warm as you eat on a cooler day. Definitely will be return customers!

I know Nashville is THE place to try Hot chicken but SS GAI has their own take on their Thai Fried chicken and it did not disappoint us.
Amazing service and the owner is very friendly . I don’t know how they managed to get the perfect crispy layer on top and still have the chicken inside moist!! They top the chicken with fried shallots and it’s a game changer . Really good place and would highly suggest this hidden gem! I enjoyed their Thai Iced tea as well!

SS Gai is one of my favorite places to eat in Nashville. The food is incredibly consistent, which is everything. Our family orders the grilled chicken at least twice a month, and it never disappoints. Simple, flavorful, and done right every single time. A true staple for us.

This spot was recommended to me by my tattoo artist who lives in Chattanooga. I can tell why! It’s so good I had to bring my sister here. The mango sticky rice is a must desert to follow!!

Definitely the worst Thai food I’ve ever had. The chicken looks amazing but the taste was a huge miss. I bought the extra sauces too for dipping and they take the award for messing up the flavor on literally all of them. Thai food is all about balanced flavors, instead there was something over powering in every item and missing balancing flavors. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go here, and you should avoid at all costs if you’re part of the Thai & Lao community to save yourself the pain.

This is a MUST EAT if visiting Nashville. Incredible menu, friendly service and highly personable owner operator who is uktra passionate about Thai food, and your experience. Just made the 2025 Michelin Guide, super fun and unique part of East Nashville with other great options in the food court style experience, lots of options next door for picky family eaters - but if you are in search of incredible Nashville Chicken + Thai flair, SS Gai will not dissapoint! Super easy/ quick Uber ride from downtown, safe and walkable neighborhood in East Nashville.

I wish I would’ve taken a photo before I finished this meal. But I couldn’t. I just couldn’t. Every single sense was stimulated while eating this. First my eyes and my nose. Presentation? Perfect, the aroma of basil, cilantro, and their sauces? Delicate, fun, a journey perhaps. Next was touch and taste. I grabbed the sticky rice, dunked it in the sauce, and placed it into a lettuce wrap with radish and carrot, cilantro and lastly chicken from the breast quarter. Oh and you already know I made it risky. Hearing the crunch of the fresh lettuce while an amalgamation of bold but balanced flavors unwed themselves across my tastebuds sent me into nirvana. The chicken skins were perfect, I don’t even like mango and their mango sticky rice put me on a different dimension. These people got a Michelin recognition for a reason. God bless SS Gai.
