We had the most wonderful experience last night at the 404 Kitchen. Our server was so kind and attentive. He gave recommendations when needed and made wonderful conversation with us. The food was spectacular, we sat on the upper level and felt like we were in an intimate setting. The pacing was great, we didn't feel rushed and every bite was excellent! Thank you for making our first meal in Nashville so spectacular!

Decor and ambiance is great, Comfortable and open. Service is timely, friendly and helpful. Food on the other hand, lots of misses. Cornbread was way over cooked, dry and burnt. Twice baked potatoes were a salt bomb. So much sodium was inedible. The baked potatoes portion was dry and over done. Pork belly app was eh, the belly was braised but not rested in the braise so it was dry and then likely deep fried to crisp, not great texture or seasoning/flavor. The lima beans mixed into the grains were odd and undercooked, ate chalky. Ordered the whole smoked and fried chicken. Came out 8cut, breading was falling off, skin was rubbery, all joints were undercooked and bloody. Smoke was there but zero seasoning beyond that, this approach screams for a brine. Bottom of the plate was covered in oil. Ate maybe 1/2 a piece, noticed table next to us had the same issue, almost whole chicken was returned and server never asked why. Drinks were clearly batched, not bad but not a knock out for a signature 404 cocktail. Bar in the main floor looked interesting, but after dinner wasn't willing to stop as we left. Would return and pray for better results.

Great atmosphere but food was below expectations, given cost. Shrimp was small, sodas were in small glasses with no refills. Definitely not a restaurant I would visit again

Delicious and very beautiful place, we celebrated my wife's birthday and they surprised us with a delicious dessert

It was okay, but it makes sense why there were a lot of open reservations. The food was okay, but nothing great. Our server was nice.

3/4 ordered the chicken piccata, it was described as chicken with couscous, lemon caper sauce when it came the chicken was smoked and fried with bones in it, sitting at top of the couscous, which was not seasoned well at all. We expect that the smoked fried chicken on the menu was made and the restaurant was empty, and therefore they cut off pieces and put it on top of our piccata and then try to claim it as southern chicken piccata after the fact. The smoked fried chicken was on the menu too. When we shared our displeasure with both the manager and the server and that none of us liked it they said we didn't think so and did nothing about it. On the other hand the spinach artichoke dip was delicious, the beef tartar was the tiniest portion ever which also lacked seasoning, but the desserts - the appler crisp and the tollhouse cookie were delicious. A glass of wine on the house would've made all the difference. with both the manager and the server. We were disappointed we had been there several times, but won't be back. Nashville has so many great restaurants, so the choice has been made for us not to return.

Thought it was overrated tbh. Service from hostess and server were lacking and the food was just ok.

The service was amazing. Cody our server was top notch. The food was just okay. Some over seasoned some not. The salads were fantastic however the entree was lackluster and the desert was small and didn't have great flavor the Carmel on the bourbon cake was burnt.

We enjoyed our dinner very much. Favorites include the scallop toast, smoked beet salad, and the trout.

Our recent Sunday outing at 404 in the Gulch was nothing short of spectacular! A handful of friends who share a passion for good food and great bourbon, we were excited about the vibrant atmosphere and an impressive bar stocked with an extensive selection of liquors and wines. To say we were not disappointed would be an understatement! As bourbon enthusiasts, we were thrilled by the unparalleled bourbon selection—truly the best we've ever encountered. Our experience was elevated by the amazing manager, Colton Cayhill, and the attentive wait staff, who went above and beyond to ensure our night was memorable. The true star of the evening was the chef, whose culinary artistry was evident in every dish. Each plate was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and crafted with care. The sides were thoughtfully paired with the entrees, enhancing the overall experience without overshadowing the main attractions. The portion sizes were just perfect—not too little to leave you wanting more, yet not so much that you felt overwhelmed. It was a balanced dining experience that left us completely satisfied. We started our culinary journey with a delightful tasting of every appetizer, and the unique catfish bites were hands down our favorite! Their crispy exterior and flavorful filling made them an absolute standout. From crisp Brussels sprouts to fresh oysters and their incredible homemade crackers, each dish was a fantastic introduction to what was to come. For our entrees, we savored duck, pork chops, and monkfish. The presentation was both elegant and creative, and as we shared each dish, we found it nearly impossible to choose a favorite. Each plate was spot-on, bursting with unique flavors that left us wanting more. Just when we thought we couldn't possibly eat another bite, the dessert parade began! We were presented with one of each dessert: bourbon cake, crème brûlée, blonde brownie, and a distinctive salted ice cream. As bourbon lovers, we were delighted with the expertly paired drinks that complemented each course perfectly. 404 is a gem in the Gulch that we highly recommend for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. From the ambiance to the food and drink selections, everything was top-notch. We can’t wait to return! Cheers!

Absolutely retched Christmas Eve dinner… taking money for food that wouldn’t have been served at a soup kitchen is sad. Whoever was responsible for the execution of this special event should be fired.

From the moment you walk into their bourbon bar to the exceptional staff and beyond exceptional food , you couldn't ask for a better dinner. Special thanks to Shirley in front of house and the entire staff for making our business guests feel like regulars. See you soon.

Holy cow! An amazing experience! We went here for our anniversary dinner and it exceeded my expectations. Entree portions were the perfect size, everything was delicious and well prepared, and orders were taken/food brought out in a timely manner. The staff was so attentive and forehead kisses to the bartender because the cocktails were so perfectly blended and creative (made a Swiftie's heart so happy)! Recommending this place to everyone I know!

Parking: There's a paid lot just before the restaurant and a paid lot behind the restaurant. All seemed to have plenty of places on a Sunday evening and fair prices

they could take us as a walk-in at 8 o’clock, but now it’s obvious as to why. The atmosphere was great, as was the location in the gulch. The food is way overpriced and the portions very small. $16 for three oysters.. I was excited to see the tri-tip on the menu and for $110 for 20 ounces prepared and $110 Would be OK if properly cooked. Was overcooked and dry and smothered and butter. The first two6 dollar Diet Coke came out pretty quickly, but after that, the waiter disappeared for 20 minutes with no drinks at the table and a pile of empty dishes just sitting there. I finally cleared my table and walked up to request check. go accross the street to Emmy‘s, but make a reservation between 630 and eight otherwise you could walk in.

Terrible, slow service. Most of our food was undercooked, including the risotto and shrimp. The beet salad was extremely salty. The worst espresso martini that curdled and we had to send back. For anyone visiting Nashville, I'd avoid this restaurant and go somewhere else. They did comp two desserts, but our bill was still almost $350 for the worst meal of our lives. Extremely disappointing way to end our 40th birthday trip.
