Excellent first time brunch! Worth the wait, call way early to get on the waiting list. Huge portions were well above expectations, think about sharing if you aren't famished when you arrive. Servers were super friendly, drinks were very well made. Parking is a challenge but not Buttermilk's fault. Looking forward to next visit!

Just ate here, the host was not friendly at all. My boyfriend and I both got the chilaquiles and it was very limey. The Vietnamese cold brew and beignets were very good though.

Alright. So about the buttermilk ranch. Well let me lead with what I wish I had known before I went which is: they have a two hour wait. We should have got on the waitlist online from our house as soon as we woke up , waited at home an hour, and then go to BMR. Instead we walked up and down 12 ave sightseeing while waiting on our table . The white chocolate peppermint mocha latte was AMAZING. I had one while I waited. We had the brown butter beignets as an appetizer. They were delicious. I had the lemon waffles, grits, and habanero gravy. We also had the foragers omelet , veggie omelet, and the cookie dough French toast. I had some of everybody’s food and literally everything that hit that table was FIRE!!! I was SO HAPPY with my food. I’m very critical. I couldn’t find a SINGLE thing to complain about as far as the food goes. Now they could use a bigger space for more tables, indoor seating for the wait, and more restrooms. When you go, don’t wait until the last minute to go to the restroom. There was a restroom line the whole time we were there. Those minor things aside though I would 10 out of 10 recommend The Buttermilk Ranch. It’s worth the wait.
Vegetarian options: Gruyère omelette with vegetarian sausage was really good.

Mitch was very attentive and the place is decorated nicely for the holidays. I came here for the shrimp and grits as it’s a dish I can’t get at restaurants around home, and it does not disappoint! The shrimps were cooked to perfection. Yum! I wish I had a bigger stomach to try more different dishes!

Just wow ! We had the most delicious gourmet blueberry pancakes, who knew you could make pancakes so creatively good. Everything we had was great, we plan to go again before we leave on

Our server, Ryan, was fabulous. The atmosphere was equally amazing! The beignets melted in our mouths. BUT, Unfortunately the scrambles we ordered did not make the cut. They were extremely bland. I even tried adding ranch to it to add flavor but it was just flavorless. Disappointed at our selection of entrees because some of the other options looked really good. I think we just didn’t order the right meals. Still a good experience!!!

The line was too long, so I just got takeout from here, but the reuben on the pretzel croissant was apparently voted as a top sandwich in Nashville and I have to say, it was excellent! The pickles and mustard and everything actually worked really well in the croissant and it was very filling too. I know it might sound like a weird combination, but don't knock it til you try it!

The only reason I’m giving it 4 starts instead of 5 is because of the wait list. The food was delicious, the croissant 🥐 and the beignets were delicious as well. Josie (I hope that’s her name) our waiter was amazing! When we arrived we were told our wait time was 2.5hours and we decided to wait… about 1 hour later my daughter asked and she was told 4 tables ahead of us, about 45mins later I asked and was told 12 tables ahead of us!! An hour after, my husband asked and he was told 7 tables ahead of us and miraculously, not even one minute after that we were called for our table… it just felt wrong. We would definitely come back, next time with a strategy 😎.

Had to check out the hype while on a trip to Nashville! I will say, their croissants don't disappoint and neither do their flaky multi-layer biscuits. Wow, look at that, I'm salivating. The brunch had components we all liked and some that just missed the mark. My eggs benedict were good, but it felt like it was missing something. A couple of people got the 12th south scramble with chicken sausage and it was just overloaded with the sausage, hardly any eggs. The French omelette was delicious. I feel like this place was maybe a smidge overhyped, but as someone that does not eat pork, I can't speak to those dishes which there seemed to be more of.

BOOK IN ADVANCE OR JOIN WAITLIST ONLINE. This place always seems to have massive wait times no matter what time of day. Weekends are crazy. We learned the hard way to join the waitlist online right when they open so you wouldn’t have to wait 1-2hrs+. The food overall was good but nothing extraordinary. Seems a bit over hyped

If Santa Claus opened a restaurant, The Butter Milk Ranch would be it. Nestled on 12th Ave South in Nashville, this place doesn’t just serve food—it serves full-blown holiday joy with a side of “wow, my life is better now!” From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a scene straight out of a holiday storybook. The exterior? A dazzling display of candy canes, gingerbread-inspired touches, and enough sparkle to make our internal Clark Griswolds jealous.
And that’s just the outside!
Inside, The Butter Milk Ranch transforms into a wonderland of holiday cheer. Imagine gingerbread houses brought to life, oversized candy canes, and festive lights so vibrant they outshine even the boldest Christmas sweater. The handmade decorations are a testament to the team’s creativity and care—they don’t buy holiday magic, they build it.
The colorful lighting, warm wood accents, and whimsical details make the space cozy yet lively, like Santa’s workshop if he swapped toys for waffles (and in all transparency, we approve). Every inch of the restaurant feels intentional, thoughtful, and over-the-top in the best possible way.
The staff here? Absolute rock stars. Jessica and Noel, our servers, weren’t just fantastic—they were like culinary tour guides, steering us through the menu with energy and expertise. They knew every detail about every dish, and their enthusiasm was contagious.
And then there’s Jen, the manager. We HAD to flag her down to say, “Look, you’re absolutely crushing it.” The whole operation runs like a well-oiled sleigh, and the staff worked together like elves on Christmas Eve—busy, happy, and making magic happen.
Now for the main event: the food. The Butter Milk Ranch doesn’t just serve meals—they serve unforgettable experiences on a plate. Each dish is a masterpiece, making it nearly impossible to choose. Here’s what made it to our table:
Lil’ Deborah Cookie
Massive. Moist. Nutty. Creamy. This cookie is a showstopper. We shared one and still didn’t finish it—but trust me, we tried.
Corned Beef Hash Skillet
Tender corned beef, perfectly crisp ranch potatoes, a kick of lacto hot sauce, smoky bourbon barrel smoked paprika, and sunny-side-up eggs. It’s like breakfast went to culinary school and graduated with honors.
Crispy Pork Belly
This pork belly deserves a standing ovation. It’s savory, sweet, a little spicy, and absolutely life-changing. Hands down, my favorite bite of the day.
Lemon and Vanilla Waffle
If happiness had a flavor, it would taste like this waffle. Fluffy, light, and topped with whipped salted caramel honey, fresh berries, and house-made granola. Every bite was a holiday miracle.
And here’s the icing on the cookie: My wife has a gluten allergy (celiac), and the head chef (who also has one) ensures every gluten-free dish is prepared with the utmost care. My wife didn’t just feel safe—she felt celebrated.
The Butter Milk Ranch isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. From the festive ambiance and welcoming staff to the showstopping food, it’s a place that stays with you long after you leave. Whether you’re a Nashville local or just passing through, this spot is an absolute must.
So, go. Order the pork belly. Share a Lil’ Deborah Cookie (or don’t). Soak in the holiday vibes. And prepare to leave happier than you came.
Dietary restrictions: Many Gluten Free options
Parking: Ask the host stand staff for parking validation QR code. It knocks off two hours off your parking fee! If you time it right, then that means your parking can be free!

This place is not worth the hype. Horrible prediction of seating time and way overpriced food. It tasted fine but not for the 1.5 hour wait. The signature croissants are fine tasting, but plate sizes and value for your money are not.
