Beware- they are selling gift cards and shutting down in December- its a scam! Run away from this place before they steal your money!
The chef and I is consistently a 1st class experience! We have been going here for at least 5 years now and are never disappointed! They always make us feel so very special, but are not pretentious! Hands down our favorite restaurant in Nashville!
Everything was fantastic. Try a tasting menu.

Elk was very overcooked. The appetizers were massively underwhelming. Long wait times to get our food. Atmosphere was pretty lackluster. Our server was very nice but MIA half the time. Disappointed.

This place should be ashamed of the food they serve for the price they charge. I've had better steak at Golden Corral.

Cozy atmosphere. Good background music. Not distracting. Great service and excellent food.( I loved the elk). From the bread to desserts and in between. No complaints. Even the parking was perfect. Awesome staff.
Sat at chefs table and enjoyed talking to chefs and watching them work. Food was delicious especially the burrata and peach appetizer. Server was helpful, friendly and professional . We really enjoyed the overall experience!
I travel a lot and like to do tasting menus whenever I can. The Chef and I was a great experience from beginning to end. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and professional. I will definitely be returning next time I'm in town!
I feel like I paid too much for what we received on a Saturday night. The environment was uncomfortable. Seats were packed in so tightly that if I lifted my elbow it would touch the person next to me. The temperature was uncomfortably warm. We were fanning ourselves by the 4th course and it made it difficult to enjoy all the hot plates. Ambiance was strange. The rest of the restaurant was almost empty on a Saturday but drink service was incredibly slow. We waited 20 minutes to place the order but service did improved and sped up after the first course. The chef seemed inexperienced with this type of service. The chef's guest interaction was minimal and strained. I don't think he smiled once and the entire interaction felt very sterile, like the DMV. The chef wasn't comfortable describing the dishes and struggled to remember ingredients. The servers had no idea where utensils went, and struggled to clear and serve because of the tight quarters. The food overall was fine, but the courses felt drawn out of a hat and placed in random order. Thankfully desert was last, but by that point I was sweating, uncomfortable from the oversalted food, and eager to leave. We did not get to witness any real cooking. Everything was prepared in advance and then heated on a burner or stove. Soups were in uncovered, rectangular, metal dishes over warmers. Pasta was precooked and sat on the counter for 2 hours before service as the 5th course. With a few drinks, the bill + tip was over $350. Paying that much, at minimum, should be for stellar service in a comfortable environment with freshly cooked food. I was a little embarrassed that I chose the Chef and I for a nice birthday meal, and I'll be sure to tell anyone who asks to save them from this. The cherry on top was a dirty, smelly bathroom. Honestly, it probably reflects the same level of care that was put into the meal.
We ordered off the regular menu ( not the tasting menu). We ate Elk and Pheasant which both were very tasty. I liked the atmosphere. Not somewhere you eat but very day but definitely worth trying for a special occasion

Sara was AMAZING!!! She was so attentive to the group and answered any questions asked! She shared why her menu was important to her and how she created each dish! Her food was incredible and the experience was unforgettable!
I feel bad for even leaving this review because the chef was so incredibly sweet and I could tell she truly has a passion for cooking. My review more so comes from the value side. I recently got back from Copenhagen and did a Michelin tasting with wine pairing for two for 600.00. At chef and I we had bread, salad, a pheasant dish, spaghetti and meatballs and a cheese cake for 260.00 and then for wine pairings which weren't explained and half pours for two was $100.00. I didn't feel like the value was a $460.00 meal considering recent experiences and not spending that at a high end steak house for two. I think when selecting dishes it should be considered the amount each person is paying.
The waiter and chef's were awesome! Food was yummy we loved sitting in the kitchen interacting. With the chefs was fun! And again The food so yummy' We will be back We loved it
We sat at the kitchen and had the 7 course tasting menu with matching wines. Chef Blake was great to interact with and it was a fun wedding anniversary. Food kept getting even better as we worked through the menu. Definitely recommend!
