We did a cooking class with Chef Matt, followed by a 5 course tasting menu and it was amazing! Matt is so down to earth and makes cooking easy to learn for anyone, no matter their experience level. This was the first cooking class my husband and I did but we will definitely be back for another! We followed our class with the 5 course chef's tasting menu and just WOW!! The food was phenomenal! Even the service was top notch. Jess took amazing care of us from being so inviting when we came in for our class, checking on us throughout the class, and then being our server for our tasting. This place is classy and relaxing. You won't feel out of place being a regular local like some places in Nashville have become. My husband and I can't stop bragging about our amazing experience. Thanks The Chef and I and amazing team! It was a great birthday experience.

Had an INCREDIBLE French cooking class with Matt West! He was very accommodating with allergies, a great teacher and was very patient. Definitely will be back for more classes. Thank you Matt!

Sat at the bar for the Thursday Happy Hour Bourbon Tasting Experience. Peter was my bartender and host, and he made my visit great. Very knowledgeable and conversational about the bourbons I selected, and friendly. The small plates that accompanied the tasting were excellent! I particularly enjoyed the North African inspired Lamb Meatball, and the Baked Feta with roasted cherry tomatoes and Shishito peppers. Both were outstanding and could have happily made a full meal of the meatballs! Overall The Chef and I is a high-value experience, especially for the experience is reserved. Highly Recommended!

Really good food and had a very enjoyable experience at the downstairs bar with the chefs. They truly enjoy what they do and made our experience even better. Haven't been to restaurant quite like

We had an excellent experience with their Chef's tasting menus allowing us to try a number of specialties. Every course was excellent. Addison brought tons of energy and enthusiasm for the food we were about to eat. We would definitely come back.

The service was great but the food (lamb shank) was just okay. The cauliflower was the best part of the meal.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options were decent, and they did modify the brussel sprouts to be vegetarian.

I chose the Chef & I for my wife and I to celebrate our honeymoon. I couldn't imagine how perfect it would turn out to be. We were lucky enough to be seated at the chef's table downstairs and blessed to have Chef Eric take care of us. He made us feel right at home. Everything he and his crew served us was outstanding. He even shared with us some surprise courses that we loved! Our server, Addison, was also friendly, quick, and helpful. My wife and I smiled through our entire dinner service. Nashville has many unique places to have a meal, but the Chef & I is not to be missed!

The food was amazing. The experience was fantastic. Great social type of environment. However, it wasn't as intimate of a space as I had planned for the evening.I will definitely be back for a different type of evening.

We tried the tasting menu (5 dishes). It takes way too long between dishes to receive your food, the food was also cold and overcooked, and tiny tiny portions. Bread came out ice cold, and food was WAY overpriced. $300 for our meal, no alcohol purchased. I’ve eaten at Gordon Ramsay restaurants for cheaper and at least it comes with an impeccable dining experience. Never again!

You have to wait 15 min after you finish the 1-bite portions. Overpriced chef’s menu at $300 for 2 people. While 4/5 “courses” were good, each course was 5 one bite each, and they charge for bread white they make you wait as you starve between bites.

This place looked nice and I thought I would try their happy hour before I dip into large dinner meal. I ordered few cocktails and they were very good. Decided to try their CARAMELIZED CAULIFLOWER & GOAT CHEESE, the portion was small really but the taste and ingredients are perfect, it was tasty. Later I chose to try the HOUSE MADE TAQUITOS, they were supposed to be browned, it took very long to get them and when I started to eat I noticed that they were charred… I brought up to the bartender attention and he said he will let the kitchen know. No one bothered to come to exchange, I had to eat as I just wanted to leave. They didn’t even try to discount or replace. I understand it was happy hour special price but it actually made me just want to leave and not go back. I settled my bill and I even gave tip. The sad thing, it’s a nice restaurant and it wasn’t that busy. I think they care or less about their customers since it’s a tourist city. I am being nice to give this rating based on my experience.

The duck breast was not cooked very well, but the Velvet Underground drink was tasty. I highly recommend the lobster bisque. Beware, the portions are a bit small. The tasting menu was worth it, but we would not necessarily do it again. The deviled eggs, elk, cod, mushroom soup, and Sunday roast were great. The duck sausage was dry. The dessert was the best part. The panna cotta tasted very good and had the consistency of a smoothie. The olive oil cake was pretty good too.

We were under the impression based on photos the whole restaurant could see the open kitchen but that is not the case. Only a very small portion of it is. Everything started off good as far as service, however the time it took to get our food was extremely long. We sat down at 8:00 (our reservation time) and did not receive our meals till after 9:00. Our appetizers were good as well as the lamb dish was very good. We also had Cacio e Pepe which was not very good at all and very plain. We were compensated part of our bill which was nice but I don't see us recommending this restaurant or returning if we are in the area again.
