1885 Grill Ooltewah - Cambridge Square

Went here for lunch after a funeral. I ordered a club sandwich and my wife ordered fried shrimp. The sandwich was not something you would write home about. The shrimp was ok, but the hush puppies were so overdone that they were practically inedible. Here’s my major rub: I had and episode of my blood glucose level plummeting. I asked our server to get me some bread (carbs) so I could eat it to raise my glucose which was at 40 (extremely low). When I got my bill I had been charged .50 for three small pieces of pita. Are you guys so desperate! You can be a little more desperate in the future because I am not coming back. Ever. The food was mediocre and the server was unsympathetic to my diabetic condition.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Brunch Done Right at 1885 Grill

1885 Grill absolutely crushed brunch. This is one of those places that reminds you why brunch exists in the first place — great food, relaxed vibe, and service that actually gives a damn.

The food was outstanding across the board. Everything came out fresh, hot, and clearly made with intention — not rushed, not slapped together, and definitely not “brunch by assembly line.” Portions were solid without being ridiculous, and the flavors were dialed in the way you hope they’ll be when you order brunch somewhere that knows what it’s doing.

But let’s talk about the service, because that’s where 1885 really separates itself. The staff was friendly, attentive, and on point without hovering or disappearing. Orders were spot-on, refills were handled before you had to ask, and the overall energy was welcoming instead of forced. You could tell they actually care about the experience, not just turning tables.

Atmosphere was comfortable and polished — upscale enough to feel like a treat, but laid-back enough that you don’t feel like you’re breaking rules by enjoying yourself.

Bottom line:
1885 Grill’s brunch is the real deal. Excellent food, excellent service, and an experience that makes you want to come back — not because you’re bored, but because they earned it. This is how brunch should be done. Hell yeah.

Attempted to eat here...waited 10+ minutes for a hostess to seat us in the my middle of the day on a Saturday, because he was super busy dealing with a single to go order.

I have an idea...maybe the hostess shouldn't have to cook the to go orders!

We opted against dining at the main level bar top based on your 1885's hiring decisions...not something I'm willing to spend my money in support of (1885 - is that a better way to phrase it for you?).

Finally, the hostess finished the to go order and was able to seat us at the upstairs bar, where there apparently is no bartender. Waited 10 minutes for service and never saw anyone, so we left and drove over to Harry's by the mall and had a fabulous meal without any bartenders dressed for attention!

Take some time and read the rest of the reviews...you'll see mine is pretty spot on with most reviewers....the service here is sub par!

Our server justice was amazing, super kind, a friendly, down to earth southern feller. Request him to feel like you just left the house. Best waiter an experience I’ve had in a long time!

My grits were cold. Like fridge cold. The server fixed it for me with a fresh dish but that really made me not want to eat anymore.

The food was great, and our server was awesome, however, the overall service was subpar. The last 3 times that we have gone here, the food has taken forever to leave the kitchen. This time, with a table of two, it took an hour to get our food. Additionally, we were not seated with silverware, and had to ask that it be brought to the table after receiving our food. Even then, only one set of cutlery was brought out, and me and the other person in my group were asked to share a napkin and silverware. All of these issues seem like problems with management, as our server was super on top of it and apologetic for the wait and lack of silverware/condiments.

Great food , ive only been here once so far. I ordered fried green tomatoes, which were my favorite part of our meal. Then for my dinner the barbecue chicken with fries and side salad. Everything amazing, service was very nice and always on her toes. ♥️we were seated upstairs, the bathrooms were out at the time we were there. Only down side to the evening. Will be back agin.

Had a wonderful dinner with my husband! Adam was out server and he was wonderful! The foods and service exceeded all expectations! Will absolutely be back!

I went with a bunch of friends here and I ordered a steak and sides . The food came out and it was raw I ordered medium well . It had alot of blood coming out it. My friends steak was to done she ordered hers the same as I did so medium well. We ask server to get us the Manger and she never did after ask 3 different workers . I ask if they could take it them steaks off the bill and the server told me I still had to pay for it. So I got tired of asking for the Manger so I paid for bill and left.
