I will preface my review by saying that we were scouting new spots for date night. I walked in and immediately knew this was not what I was looking for. The menu had seemed interesting, but the food was almost trying too hard; The drink menu was similar. I would describe the restaurant as a bar that wants to be fancy. It could be just what you are looking for, but it wasn’t for us.

Went here for my birthday and they refused to serve me alcohol because I have a vertical ID as opposed to the horizontal one. Mind you, I’m 24 years old today and my ID doesn’t expire until 2029… I just left. It’s a shame, menu looked pretty good and was excited to try their happy hour menu. Oh well!

I put five stars because this is one of our go to restaurants. We love this place, love its food and how seriously the chefs take how the customers enjoy their art.
And because I know the owners and the chefs take constructive criticism seriously, I will have to say the braised beef was a miss, at least last night. It was very fatty and there probably could not have been more than 6 ounces of beef, pre-cooked, and there just really wasn’t much to it other than the accompanying plated vegetables and pasta. Our table had one of their burgers, which always kill. We also had the hanger steak which was spot on, and we always have appetizers, consisting of Brussel sprouts and fried cheeseballs. Last night was no exception. They are to die for. We hope they bring back the lobster gnocchi. We know it is seasonal but if you see it on the menu and you don’t grab it, you have missed out. Any hiccup with the braised beef was more than made up for their crazy, good staff, friendly cool environment, and great location in Cambridge. Thanks and keep up the good work, folks.

I recently visited Wine Down Bistro and tried their burger special—it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were spot on, and the portion was just right. However, the service left a bit to be desired. The staff seemed a bit inattentive, which took away from the overall experience. If the service had been as good as the food, it would have been a perfect visit. Still, I’d recommend trying the burger!

Always love the lavender coffee. I usually eat breakfast and it is great. This time I had a greenhouse sandwich with gluten free bread. It was very good!

We happily frequent Wine Down, but this will probably be one of our last visits. Our last two visits, the service has been less than mediocre and we felt less than appreciated as customers when we left. Tonight, we decided to go early to eat and the restaurant was largely empty. There were two other parties when we walked in and they already had their food. We ordered and the food came quickly. As usual, the food was good, but we have never complained about the food. We had our food for 6 minutes, don’t ask, I just know, and the waitress is asking if we need boxes. I was rather curt and let her know we were still eating. My water glass was empty and I began drinking my wife’s water. Still eating my fries and another waitress takes my plate without asking. “Let me get this plate out of your way.” She then offered to give my wife a to go cup for her soda. Well, that’s a problem as my wife still had a 1/2 hamburger to eat. Seriously? Then, as expected, the check comes….still eating….”No hurry, pay this when you want.” How about let me finish, I may order more food or a drink. You had a half full restaurant. I tipped according to service, and initially felt bad because it was obvious the waitstaff has all been trained to rush, rush, rush. Three different waitresses tonight and all just trying to get us to leave quickly. We won’t be back any time soon.

Love this place, it’s tiny but simply delightful. The pimento cheese dip is the best ever! Ahhh and the oysters…

Wine Down is one of our favorite places to eat out. Delicious and varied food choices, an expansive Happy Hour menu, nice drink choices, and pleasant service. Inside can get a little loud. We prefer the outside patio when the weather is nice.

Parking: Parking in the lots outside of the square is easy and free. Inside the square is free but limited.

Amazing food and service! This place seems to attract some noisy and inconsiderate patrons that dampen the experience but maybe that’s just my luck.

When you have "Wine" in your name, the wine selection should be top notch. The selection is poor and many of their choices are brands you can buy at the grocery store but with elevated prices.
The atmosphere in a "Wine" bar/restaurant, should be sophisticated and full of ambience. Sorry to say, it lacks both.

The food and drinks were good. A lot of unique things on the menu or with a twist. Trying to elevate the menu to be different from other venues. Pricing is reasonable
