Our group visited Mel's Diner the weekend before Presidents Day. It was our first trip to Pigeon Forge and our first meal after what felt like a long, treacherous drive.
We were immediately greeted and seated, and everyone was incredibly friendly. We had two tables, and our server did an excellent job taking care of both.
I ordered the two-piece catfish with mac and cheese and coleslaw — it was delicious, and the price was less than I expected. Others in our party also commented on how excellent their meals were.

Great old fashioned type diner. Really good food and fast service. Tabby was our waitress and did a great job. I had the Big Bopper bacon cheese burger, and I don't know what they do to their bacon but it's some of the best I've ever had.

Food is high dollar dog food. Not very good at all. I don’t know who give this place such high praise. Absolutely terrible food. Fries not cooked long enough, chicken cooked a year too long. Couldn’t chew it. Ate the bread. This is frozen grocery store food warmed up and served. Save your money. Server was nice but couldn’t get our checks right for nothing. Forgotten children’s food and child had to wait 10 mins for food after everyone else had there’s. Of all the years and all the restaurants we have eaten in pigeon forge, Hands down the worst food! Even mediocre flavortown is miles better and there not so good.

We came here on Valentine's night after waiting nearly 3 hours at another restaurant only to be treated with the utmost disrespect so we left and decided Mel's has always been a place we loved coming to when in Pigeon Forge so we would come here even though it wasn't a fancy steakhouse. Well they got our family of 12 in within 10 minutes and the service and food were amazing. We were so pleased and I am so glad this is where we ended up spending our money. Some got lunch and others had breakfast but everyone was happy with what they got and happy that this is where we ended up. Always a tradition to come to Mel's when in Pigeon Forge and it looks like it was meant to be this night also. Thank you to all the staff who made this a wonderful night for our family.

Wonderful old fashioned diner. FLO was my waitress, French roll hair-do and all!! A lot of nostalgia decorates the walls. Good old 50s 60s music playing!
Their food is typical fun diner eats; I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans-all very filling and no room for even a malt!
They allow dogs in the diner and not just service dogs, as long as they behave! The dog sitting behind me, River, was so sweet and well-behaved. This is great, especially for travelers who can't/shouldn't leave a pet in the car!
Off of the main street through Pigeon Forge.

Mrs. Penny took excellent care of me this morning! And she was correct in stating the coffee is very good! I loved the retro memorabilia on the walls and their tee shirts were very cute!!

There was no wait and a few open parking spots. We got a burger and country fried steak. It wasn't bad but nothing to write home about. The burger looked and tasted freezer/pre-made. We asked for Chili/cheese on fries and didn't get that. Our waitress never asked us if everything was OK or if we needed anything. Overall wasn't impressed. If you're looking for more of a mom and pop kitchen cooked meal, this wouldn't be it. This is more of 'We need something to eat in a hurry' and its ok.
