Stopped in last week while vacationing in Pigeon Forge for the new year. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were short on space and I couldn't decide on just one or two jars, so I got a bunch of minis. So far my favorite has been the pineapple shine in place of rum in a pineapple daiquiri. 2oz pineapple shine, 1oz fresh lime juice, 3/4oz simple syrup.
Old Forge is my preferred east TN shine bar. While it has a rustic vibe, it is a little pretentious. The store itself is crowded and cluttered with merch. When I visited there were three distinct tasting offerings: shine, creams, and bourbon. There's also a full bar off to the side. Here's the thing: I like their backwoods cut high proof and the proof varies. They take more of an art and less industrial approach to their products. It is more expensive, but again - craft....
