Bob's has always been a local favorite. They had a rocky spell...but, have more than made up for it!Food is yummy, affordable, and they have a lot of choices to choose from.We mostly go for their breakfast, which has never disappointed.
May not look like much from the outside but you must step in and enjoy. Menu features in-house Fresh made items including plant based. BBQ the right way smoked onsite and a secret recipe fresh made BBQ sauce. Whether the Pork or the Chicken you will NOT go wrong. No nonsense homemade good delicious food. There is another that claims "mountain bbq", just steps away (we tried that place and I thru my entire tray in the trash) but Bob's is the REAL deal. One of the two restaurants we recommend in the area. Oh and they do have hand scooped ice cream available. Next time we will have to try breakfast. Not open on Sunday or Monday so make your plans accordingly.
I was blown away by the number of options on the vegan menu, and the food is delicious! The staff is incredibly thoughtful and kind, and the environment is friendly and enjoyable. I wish I lived closer; I would come here all the time! Don't miss out if you're in the area.
Driving through this little Tennessee town, we knew we had to stop for lunch. I happened to look online to see what we might be looking for as a good place to eat. Bob‘s Dairyland popped up. We thought we would give it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised because on the outside, this town doesn’t look like it has much to offer. Inside, we checked in at the front counter and placed our order. My husband was excited about the barbecue options and I was excited about the small cheeseburger. The fries were outstanding. Generally I can’t eat many fries but I couldn’t stop eating these. My husband said that the hush puppies had to be the crowning glory. The owner is just as nice and friendly as he can be and the service was excellent. Thanks.
We stopped in when we saw BBQ on the sign. The staff was extremely friendly and genuinely welcomed us especially when they learned we had not been there before. I had the daily special which was a beef and cheddar sandwich. It was tasty and it came with four large potato wedges that were crunchy on the outside, just the way I prefer them. My husband had a BBQ plate. The meat was sliced instead of pulled like we are used to. He enjoyed his dinner too. We ordered at the counter. The meals were delivered to the table and another employee offered drink refills.
Most unpleasant meal and experience ever. I grew up in East Tennessee and my family owns multiple properties in Roan Mountain, including the Bed and Breakfast. I have ate at Bob's Dairyland since I was a small child and it was always a GREAT meal. So, I brag on what a great meal me and my date would have here. Sure we could go to a fancy restaurant and get good burgers and fries for $26.42 plus tip but I wanted to share my wonderful childhood experience.Go in, order him a large cheeseburger, large fry and large Pepsi; I order a small cheeseburger, small fry and Coleslaw and a large Diet Pepsi. Good so far ... total $26.42. Wow, Bob's has gone up but wait until you see and taste this burger I say.Our meal is brought to the table -- 2 burgers wrapped in paper, appear identical in size and a small fry. I said "we are missing a large fry and an order of coleslaw". She proceeds to argue that's what was on my ticket. Eventually she says she would get the missing items. She returns the with a large fry and a plastic cup of Coleslaw the size of a shot glass. We had noticed both burgers were very small, one contained a hand patty and a bigger Bun twice its size. The other fit the bun and was the 3.5 oz patty I had requested but was a frozen patty. We ask about the burger that should be larger being so small and the lady delivering our food (for a $4,00 tip) said "don't get on me, I didn't make it. My date politely ask the women at the front (owner) which burger was which given the "larger burger" was so much smaller (and burnt) than what we were told was the smaller burger. She said "maybe that burger contained more fat". She did give me the correct size of coleslaw. My date returns to the table and I embarrassingly apologize. I should add, 2 people came in for ice cream but there was only one other coule dining in the restaurant so not like it was "rush hour". Guess my childhood memories of Bob's Dairyland are just that .... only memories. Advice: Save your money for a business that stands for quality and customer satisfaction as the original Bob's Dairyland once did.
I come here weekly, sometimes more. The secret here is the owner is actually a plant-based chef. Now don’t let that scare you, the burgers and shakes are still great. However, if you’re trying to watch your blood pressure and blood sugar like I was, then ask for the plant-based menu. But as I said, if you just want a normal red-blooded American breakfast or burger, they’ve got that too. Huge fluffy biscuits. Thick gravy. Loaded hash browns. Great stuff! A diamond in this local area.
Nice place. Decent food. A bit pricey! $7 for a thin bbq sandwich w/no sides and over $5 for an iced cream. Convenient on a ride! We'll probably go back. (Thanks for the response! I think that you're right. That's a lot of tax!)
We were in Roan Mountain In June to see the gardens in bloom. What a lovely surprise to find a plant based menu at this location. The food and service were excellent, the staff friendly, and the owner was so helpful in helping sort out what we could have with the food allergies we deal with. We will go back anytime we are in the area— it’s a 5 hour drive from home.
Ice cream for breakfast, who can argue with that? OK so I didn't really have ice cream for breakfast, but I could have. I had egg sandwiches and my wife had biscuits and gravy, two of the biggest biscuits I've ever seen. All was delicious. And price was quite reasonable.

Amazing customer service. Delicious and fresh chicken biscuits and good sweet tea.
The food here is delicious and made fresh to order. The staff running the place make you feel right at home. A little pricey for a small home town diner (IMHO), but it was really good.
Stopped by for a lunch while we were driving thru the area. Food was pretty decent. Not a long wait time
Very good food and service. They have good cheeseburgers and cheese sticks. Their ice cream is good and they have seating outside. I love going here after hiking in Roan Mountain.
They greeted us as we came in. The lady that took our order was super nice. They have super awesome service. Food was delicious, and perfectly portioned.
