We came in very close to closing after volunteering most of our day to Selmer’s tornado cleanup, & the Hickory Pit fully accommodated us, the only people left in the restaurant for a good minute. Thank you for an excellent meal & excellent service!
I eat here a lot. The chicken spaghetti today was some of the best I’ve ever had.
The chicken & dressing on their lunch buffet is bland with and without gravy. The cornbread was dry and tasted like grease. The fryer needs cleaning as the chicken tenders had flecks of burnt stuff all over them. The desserts we got were soggy and not very good. This is the 3rd and last time eating there since 2019 because every time we do, we end up on the toilet all day after. We kept hoping we caught them on an off day but not 3 times over a span of 5 years. Sorry guys.

Hickory Pit is a top BBQ place in East TN with tongue-licking good food. The restaurant accommodated us near closing time after a long day volunteering. The service was excellent, and the meals, like chicken tenders, sweet potato casserole, and squash casserole, were fast and delicious. The buffet options, like chicken and dressing, orange fluff, and casseroles, were all reasonably priced at $9. A highly recommended spot for BBQ lovers.
