I recently visited Trotter's Whole Hog BBQ with my family, and we were all blown away by the experience! The food was absolutely delicious—every bite was packed with flavor. I ordered the sample plate, and it was the best decision I could have made. It gave me a taste of everything, and each item was better than the last. My wife got the half chicken, and it was so generous in portion that if you left hungry, it was definitely your own fault!
The service was top-notch, and the staff made us feel right at home. We loved the food so much that we bought some of their dry rub to bring home—it's that good! We can't wait to come back. Highly recommend this spot for anyone who loves authentic BBQ.
Parking: Across the road
Kid-friendliness: As for whether it's kid-friendly—absolutely! My youngest wanted chicken nuggets, and they had them, along with homemade potato chips (think flat potato slices). She loved them so much that we had to tell her to stop eating before she made herself sick

The food here was super good. We came for the smoked wings and they didn't disappoint. We sat by the windows that offered a personal type of outing in comparison to facing everyone else in the restaurant. What made the outing that much more enjoyable was the service from Haley. She was incredible and made our evening so much better than it already was.

On line menu is totally different. Some items not available. When we showed the waitress that menu on line, she was like... Oh yeah that's last year's..... WTH ?....Was a lil disappointed that pulled pork was barely warm. Bun for sandwich was cold out of the bag. Husband's plate of pulled pork was barely warm. It was ok. Not bad just not worth going back again. ?

Awesome atmosphere and amazing wait staff! Highly recommend the fresh pork rinds from the appetizer menu - they were AHHHMAZING and literally sounded like fresh poppin’ firecrackers from the time we received them at the table - and continued to snap, crackle, and pop for a solid 10 minutes afterwards!? Fabulous sauces and seasonings on everything we had! We will definitely be returning!

Once was enough.
Husband I were so excited to finally eat here. We are from southern coastal SC so smoked meats and bbq joints are plentiful here. We have our own smoker also and know a good smoked meat meal. We were greeted right away and our teas were delivered promptly. Although I liked the large open windows, the flies were terrible. I had to keep shooing them off our food. We ordered the pork skins. We didn’t know we had only BBQ sauce to dip them in. Thought the pimento cheese came with them. Then realized it was $10 extra for the cheese. Would have been a $16 appetizer. He got the chicken, brisket, and ribs with homemade chips and slaw. Chicken came with the sauce already on it. 2 small pieces of brisket, and the ribs. Meats were tough. The ‘homemade chips’ were thick slices of potatoes deep fried with bbq seasoning sprinkled on them. Nothing resembled a ‘chip’. The smoke flavor was there on the meats but the meats were tough. I got brisket, pulled chicken, and jalapeño/cheese sausage. Collared greens and Mac n ‘ cheese as my sides. 2 small pieces of brisket that seemed like it had been sitting in a luke warm steam table all day. The pulled chicken had been in chicken broth as I could see the broth in the bowl. The sausage was simply purchased from a food service supplier and smoked. The hush puppies would have been delicious if they weren’t cold in the middle. I would venture to say they were kept in the fridge and then deep fried again to ‘heat them up’. Burnt on the outside…cold on the inside. Major disappointment for such a highly rated bbq joint.

Meh. Wish there was something to recommend other than the beer taps (which are very cool), but the BBQ was just average, maybe a bit dry.
Service was very kind and attentive. Good location.

Went with my hubby and son/ daughter in law (they live here). Ribs were amazing. Meatloaf sandwich with tomato jam was to die for. Burnt ends...SO good.
UPDATE 2024: Went again today as we are back in town. The Duke's BLT did NOT disappoint and the banana pudding was decadent. Love this place!! ❤️

We decided to stop here for a very late lunch at 4pm, perhaps that was the problem but that isn’t what we were told. They were out of all the smoked meats, so you couldn’t order a combo platter. They literally had only pulled chicken, pulled pork, smoked meatloaf and bologna. No hush puppies either. My pulled pork was cold and dry. The most minuscule serving of coleslaw was contaminated with unknown meat (literally one tablespoon of coleslaw). One pickle slice. One. You need to call before you go to see if they have their full
Menu available. The sides and wings were the best thing on the menu. I hate to crush a business online, but people need to know before they go that this business isn’t operating as advertised and is severely cutting corners. We would have gone elsewhere immediately but we’re from out of town and the kids were starving.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I only give service 3 stars because the WAITRESSES were PHENOMENAL. The manager Noah is awful. Our food took forever to come out and we had to change our order multiple times due to running out of every entrée. Once the last thing that kept having to get changed came out so did everything else. Shocker, it was all cold cause it sat back there waiting for the last entree. When we asked to speak to a manager, NOAH, he refused to come out and talk to our table to hear about our experience. Instead he sent his waitress out in tears because her hands were tied. She did everything she could to help us and instead he left her high and dry to figure it out. That is a manager's job and should never have a waitress handle a situation like that. VERY unprofessional. It took us refusing to leave until he apologized for what happened for him to address the issue. NOAH should never be a manager, the wait staff handled it better than he did. Thank you to our waitresses, I'm so sorry I don't remember your names.

Server was amazing! All the food had great flavor. The cook did not cook things very well. A lot of it was cold and the other stuff was overcooked and dry.
