The best you can get. All around great food and service. Very friendly people. A must place to eat when in town.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on our way to the Tuckaleechee Caverns. I'm so glad we didService was great. Annette was our waitress. She was friendly and very attentive. As was everyone. The food was delicious. I went with the daily special, fried fish. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich. Both were great! We couldn't go without trying some of their homemade deserts either. I had the apple walnut pie, while my wife had the lemon chess. Wow!! Absolutely delicious deserts. Worth going just for thatI think I heard they may close during the winter when it gets slow, so might want to check to see if they're open before visiting. Otherwise, definitely give them a try!!

Awesome food and great service. Best restaurant in Townsend. 5 Stars!!!! Everything is great. We like the Fish Sandwich best but we haven’t had a bad experience or food here.

We stopped here for lunch on our way from Knoxville to Gatlinburg on a weekday. It was busy but we were seated within about ten minutes. Fun small town atmosphere. A number of diners appeared to be regulars. One table picked up the check for a young couple. Service was friendly and timely. We had one of the daily specials which was chicken and one fish sandwich which was gigantic. The food was delicious. Unfortunately we were too full to try the homemade pies and other dessert. Fun experience, so glad we stopped. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday and in the winter.

We stopped for lunch and was pleased to find Fried Bologna sandwiches on the menu. Reminded us of when we were kids, so we ordered. The bread was grilled and the bologna was thick with melted cheese and mayo. We had one order of fries and enjoyed it all. Friendly staff.

Really good food. There are only 13 tables, so we had a short wait but its worth it. I had the cheese burger and fries and my wife had bologna sandwich on homemade toasted bread and fried okra. I'd recommend going.

My sister and I went here for a late lunch and had the fried shrimp special. It was very good! The portions were huge with hot shrimp and fries, cole slaw and roll. The staff is exceptionally nice and friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Will definitely return.

After not being able to eat at my first choice in Townsend (3 different times) and was heading out of town for home, I saw this restaurant as we went past. I looked it up really quick online and saw good reviews and the pics of food looked really good too. We turned around and went back and I sure am glad we did!!! The staff is all family and is very friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful and served fresh and hot. The dessert we had was home made pineapple upside-down cake and very tasty!! They make some of their desserts and breads. The prices are very reasonable too. They are not open 7 days a week, or year round, so be sure to check before you go.

I went to this restaurant with friends hoping for a light dinner…not much on the menu that wasn’t fried so I ordered a veggie burger and told the waitress to hold the bun since I’m gluten free. I get the burger and it’s fried…mentioned to waitress and she said she was sorry she didn’t know what gluten was! I just realized as I’m writing this that I didn’t even get the Swiss cheese…if you like fried food then check it out…my friends thought it was good. I left hungry…

We ate lunch at The Black Bear Cafe. Very pleasant staff. Food was really good. I had the fish special with turnips and fried okra. Hubby had a Rueben with okra. Would definitely return.

Yum! First of all we had a large group of 16 people. They were happy to accommodate us and were very efficient in their service. The food came out quickly, was hot, and delicious! Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are good. This is a great place to eat...try it for yourself!

The Black Bear Cafe is great. I stopped for a late lunch after a day of fishing. The cheeseburger was excellent! It came out hot and prepared as ordered, and the fries were hot and crispy. I really enjoyed this little place a lot. The servers were friendly and energetic. The upside down pineapple cake was very, very good. Make sure to save room for dessert!
