Went in today for a take out lunch. The first thing I noticed is how expensive this place is. I wanted burnt ends but at $28.00 for a meal I thought no thank you. I did however order a pulled pork meal ($18) and a smoked pork chop meal ($18). When I got home I had two pulled pork meals. My girl didn't get what she wanted and if mama ain't happy ain't nobody happy. So we dig in as it's to far to go back. The pork was smoky and very well cooked. Definitely a skilled pit master. The sauce although unnecessary with this good of pork was excellent as well. I got baked beans that were awesome. Like baked beans and chili together with smoked meat. Very good. We got potato salad that was full of massive potato pieces and onion. Also very good. The fries were season salted and absolutely delicious with the bbq sauce. The food was high quality and took some sting out of the price. I know how hard it is to find help in Townsend as I'm a local. I gave four stars because of the order being wrong. The food is five star but you have to get orders right. BBQ fans are passionate and look forward to what they wanted to eat. I wll go back from time to time and highly recommend this place. The price is not something I can afford often. You should give a locals discount. Congratulations on bringing good BBQ back to Townsend. It's been a while.
Out of town catfish fans just had the catfish of our lives. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth. The baked beans were uniquely brilliant, and the hush puppies an obvious labor of love. The owners and staff are delightful, and we're so glad we lucked in to the right spot.
First of all, though the name is almost the same, IT IS NOT. This restaurant is under new Management, Keith Guire, Owner. Any reviews prior to the last week of May do not apply to the new proprietor. We had some great brisket, fries and green beans at Walker's Catfish Cabin and BBQ. It is so delicious. We use used to have a place calked Smokin' Joe's, but now that everyone said was great, no comparison, Smokin' Joe's is just a bad memory. My wife and I have had several meals, all fantastic! Folks if you're in the area stop by and say hello to thw owner Keith Guire, he'll probably be the person serving you, great customer service. 7016 E Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Townsend, TN 37882
Pork plate with beans and pasta salad. Came in from Chicago for the small bore rally. The pork was like butter!!! SUPER tender, and with the bbq, chef kiss! Super friendly staff.
The new owners are great. Amazing people with great hospitality. Fish was very tasty as well as all the sides. Hushpuppys are amazing and almost like a desert with a bacon flavor. Only reason not 5 star is the price. 28 for a catfish meal. Other than that was an amazing experience.
My husband and I ate there several days back. We ate the catfish dinner. It was good but personally I would like the fish with a lighter batter. My husband especially enjoyed the baked beans! I thought it was somewhat pricey. We plan to go back sometime and try the BQ. Everyone was so very nice and we wish you all blessed success in your newly opened business
Awesome place to eat! Under new managment/ownership and just opened back up a couple weeks ago. Keith is absolutely great! My husband and I had the grilled pork chop, pulled pork, catfish, hush puppies, fries, potato salad, baked beans, and the stew. All of our food was cooked well and tasted perfect. Such nice people running this place and as a local, it’s so good to see a wonderful new restaurant come into Townsend! We will be back often.
The staff was nice and there’s seating outside and the fries were edible - that’s the only positives. Had I read the reviews before stopping, we would not have stopped, so if you are reading this and considering stopping, I hope this saves you from an expensive meal that’s horrible. We ordered the catfish meal and the fish was covered in thick, hard batter. The hush puppies, I’m almost 50, and it was the first time in my life I bit into a raw hush puppy, which I immediately spit into my napkin - yes, yucky imagery for the yucky experience. Then, the green beans were obviously out of a can, but tasted somehow vinegary. Lastly, the tartar sauce was mayonnaise and pickles, both of which I like, yet this was also just yucky. Overall, for $28, it was an absolute disappointment, and some of the worst food I’ve purchased, plus unsafe to eat, when served uncooked. I was also frustrated that I had added a tip, since that was presented at the time of purchase. Seriously, the people were nice, but we did not stop to socialize, we were looking forward to good food. We will not be back and will be trying the other restaurants in Townsend.
Definitely going to be eating here again! The Brisket was the best I’ve ever had and the Catfish was delicious as well. The fries were crisp and seasoned well and the green beans were very good also.Excellent food, a great location and friendly staff that are obviously very passionate about their craft. Highly recommended!
Food was served quickly and was very tasty. We ordered the barbecue pork sandwich and brisket plate. Both were barbecued perfectly. Clean place to eat and priced pretty much as other places in town.

Definitely worth the stop. Best Pulled pork and BBQ beans ever. Everything thing we got was all great and juicy and tender. Very fast service too.
Had the catfish and the BBQ sandwich with sides all of which were excellent! The owner was very friendly and interested in serving quality foods. True, there is no indoor seating, but even in this heat the fans made outdoor dining doable. It's the mountains and hot days like this won't last, so give it a try!
Let me start by saying it was 91 degrees when we walked into this establishment. There is no indoor seating. The lady who took our order was very nice. Another gentleman that worked there spoke to us and was nice. The food was so-so. We will not go back simply because there is no option to sit inside. Most places offer an option to sit outside vs this establishment where you do not have a choice. Disappointing.
Holy catfish this place is awesome. We were in the area for a wedding and ate here, and the people who live in this area are so lucky to have this place to eat. I LOVED the beans in the mini cast iron pot, service and food was excellent. It was so good I had to try it all, I first had the catfish, then the alligator, then the frog legs and the Cajun catfish. It was all some of the best tasting food I have ever had, and I was stuffed. GREAT PLACE
We were greeted by the owners who are very friendly. As they have just opened they are still renovating the inside. We ordered our food at the inside counter and paid. As they weren’t busy we were able to choose where to sit. All seating is either on the screen porch or the picnic tables outside. We order the catfish dinner and shared it. It was 2 very large pieces of catfish cooked to perfection with excellent flavor and 2 sides. We had the baked beans and fries. Both were delicious. My daughter ordered the smoked pork chop dinner and shared it with her daughter. Again excellent flavor and done just right. Owner checked on us several times, refilled our drinks and gave us tips on what wildlife was outside to see along the creek. We will definitely be back and look forward to this place doing well. For those who might remember the Back Porch restaurant this is it. Hopefully they will have the inside seating complete in the near future.
