Came in on a Friday evening and ordered 2 meat plate with sides. Would love to give this place a better rating but brisket prices should be served hot and ready to eat. My meat was cold along with all my sides. This place needs to make quick adjustments for the price of each meal, this is not to be expected.

We haven't been here in years but our recent visit was beyond disappointing. Literally speechless. The amount of money my family & I spent here was at least $400 - $500. We came here to celebrate my mother's birthday who is terminally ill. To say that I'm upset is an understatement.
What happened to texas pride!? This NOT what I remembered. My mother chose to come here for her birthday. I'm disgusted this was the experience we had.
The sausage had obviously been sitting & overcooked. With the very dark ring & tough/chewy casing. The cobbler were very, very dry. The buns for the sandwiches were not warmed, or toasted or even buttered & dry also. They're too thick. The bun & brisket ratio is off.
The brisket nachos were so salty. You can literally see all of salt made it unpleasant in some parts to eat.
The wait time to put brisket on top of tortillas chips, add beans & shredded cheese was standing off to the side for 15 minutes.
There was no one in front of me ordering or waiting for their food (unprepared for a rush of customers). This was at 7pm on a Friday. Like what??? While waiting at the counter, one if the employees comes from the kitchen swing doors, shoving food in their mouth eating as they are approaching the sides area to serve customers - never changing their gloves- hmmm??? Like wow. Out in the open for all to see.
Everything tasted as if it was leftover bbq from a cookout days previous. And it was as if the kitchen warmed up the leftovers for way too long & just have it to my family & I charging us premium prices. If it sits under the heating lamps too long - then yiu get what we were served: dried, hard sausage.
How can you call yourselves 'Texas Pride'? More like 'Texas Shame'. You should be embarrassed to charge so much money to customers for what should have NEVER-EVER been served to anyone, let along to a terminally ill person.
My family & I just made the best of everything as best we could. All twenty of us. Customers deserve better when they are spending a minimum of $20 person. I cant even say the lemonade & ice tea were decent, cause they werent. First thing my daughter said was don't get the lemonade. So i got the tea - my thought was: don't get the tea either. SMH. Sides: green beans obvious canned but over ooked & sitting way too long. Smashed potatoes - dry/sitting too long. How can SO much money be spent to decorate & accommodate events & entertainment and the food be so bad? Guess priorities are the bars there - not the food anymore.
We wanted the food to be what we remembered. It wasn't. We traveled from out of town for this.
Times have been tough for people out here in this economy & for some business. How could management & owners let this happen? Like what on earth did all 20 of us get served? The food thats been sitting?
My suggestions:
FOOD QUALITY CHECK!
FOOD QUALITY CHECK!
FOOD QUALITY CHECK!
Don't waste your money or time.
While I will say the friendly customer service was much appreciated the food was not even close - your food will always be what makes a lasting impression. Our impression: this is NOT even decent bbq. We left feeling robbed of our hard earned money & what was supposed to be an enjoyable meal before my mother begins her first chemo treatment next week on her birthday.
PSA:
Those looking for consistent quality Texas BBQ, just drive the extra 30 minutes to Burnt Bean in Seguin, TX. There's a very good reason there's always a line. They never disappoint.

We had forgotten about this place but returned after being away for a few years. We were not disappointed. Very nice selection of meats and sides. Friendly staff. Fair prices. Only disappointment was the lack of self serve soda. But sweet tea was fine

Real Texas BBQ that will satisfy everyone... the sides are good and the peach cobbler was amazing. Great drive to a venue that is worth the stop given the mesquite smoked meat is cooked for 18 to 22 hrs and the atmosphere is Texas to the core.

Stopped in on a Sunday about 5pm. Not busy. Friendly and attentive staff from the minute we walked in. Got the lean brisket and it was flavorful, bbq sauce was perfect. Had the sausage and it was tasty as well. I was just slightly disappointed in the cream corn but it just wasnât to my taste. Has a smoky flavor I wasnât expecting. Donât know if they do a sample taste, so I should have asked that. Had the cheesy potatoâs, great flavor just dried up on top a bit like it was under the light a while. Sat inside. Perfect temperature, family style picnic tables. If it get packed be ready to make friends with your neighbors at the tables. Good music. Not too loud you canât hear yourself think or carry on a conversation.

Weâve been going to Texas Pride for years and have always had great serviceâuntil now. My husband and I both ordered the three-meat combo. Everything was fine at first. The young Hispanic gentleman who helped me was very thoughtful and had great customer service skills.
But as soon as my plate was handed to an older white lady, everything changed. She made a huge deal over the weightâit was barely a point over. I wouldâve gladly paid for the extra, so that wasnât the issue. What bothered me was how she handled it: she ridiculed him, saying âThatâs why you have a scale,â while pointing her finger in his face.
To make it worse, she actually held my plate up in the air, then put it back down. Thereâs a difference between training someone and going overboard, and this felt like creating a problem where there wasnât one. I hope that young man find another job where heâs treated great I hope that lady gets some training on how to be customer friendly
I wonât be going back Iâll be going to BBQlife by Chris from now on
80 for nasty bbq dry side and a rude atmosphere
Had a late lunch there, and the brisket and chicken were awesome. VERY cool venue and restaurant. Got to meet the owner who sat with us a little and talked about the restaurant! The manager recommended the meats and sides, and she was NOT wrong! They have an entertainment venue for weddings and concerts, and things like that, and they have some cool cars and trucks in there, including a General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard. This is a MUST-GO and try it destination! MANY years there means they have to be doing something right!

Texas Pride BBQ in Adkins, Texas is always spot-on â their BBQ is so delicious and savory. The assortment of sides is fantastic, and my personal favorite is the cheesy potatoes. The BBQ sausage and turkey are fantastic as well. The location itself is a true landmark for Adkins, with an eclectic, southern decorative style that makes it feel warm and inviting. The employees are always kind and welcoming. Definitely my go-to spot when the family is craving fantastic BBQ.
