Walked in, was asked if we had a reservation and when we told them our names they just pointed to a table and said you're over there. Food was ok. Never offered us drinks, can't even make a mule. Water was gross. Brought us bread but no napkins. Wanted this to be a really special dinner and felt like we were treated like sh-t. Pretty sure it was because we weren't local because some other folks came in and they were treated better right in front of us. Wouldn't eat her if you're not local to Alpine TX which is wack because so many tourists come through this part of Texas.

The food was really good. Our waiter, Andres was very attentive without being intrusive. The onion rings were great with the spicy ketchup. The wedge salad was a different take on the classic wedge. And the tortilla soup was a great presentation with a table side broth pour over. We also had the ribeye and the burger. Both cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. To finish off the meal we had the apple crisp with ice cream. What a great end to our phenomenal meal. What a great find in Alpine. The only regret is we found it on our way out of town or else we would have gone more than once.Dietary restrictions: They state they can prepare most dishes gluten free.

Though this place had a fantastic atmosphere with very friendly people, and an interesting menu with some unique dishes, the service was less than average. We ordered the poblano rellenos and bacon wrapped crab stuffed jalapeños plus tortilla soup as appetizers. The peppers were excellent but the soup was basically chicken broth. The steak tacos that my wife got for her entree were incredible but the “ribeye” I got was undoubtedly the toughest steak I’ve ever tried to eat. Although it had a good flavor I could only eat three or four bites before I told the waiter who only said he was sorry so I asked for a to go box. It certainly was not a ribeye cut in appearance much less a $51 one but my dog won’t mind.

My friend and I ordered three sour cream chicken enchiladas. The meal came with rice, beans, and tortilla soup. A short while after ordering, a young man showed up with two bowls. We could see tortilla chips on top, but nothing else. A second man showed up with a pitcher of hot water. He poured hot water into each of our bowls. Apparently, the dry, dehydrated ingredients of the tortilla soup were under the chips. Both of us were born and raised in Texas, and neither of us had ever seen such a thing.Nevertheless, we tried the soup and found it to be completely lifeless. The broth was chickeny-tasting water, and there were very small bits of chicken at the bottom of the bowl. This wasn't remotely like any of the tortilla soup we'd ever eaten. We both agreed to forget about trying to eat it, and the waitress took it away. Then, the sour cream enchiladas showed up. They, too, tasted funny. So, after eating only one, and to avoid a scene, we asked for two to-go boxes. They were brought; we slid the contents of our plates into the boxes, paid the $54 check, and left. Once outside, we both threw our to-go boxes of sour cream enchiladas into the trash.I spent the next two days of my Spring Break in misery at my hotel room. My stomach was in knots, and I felt like I was going to throw up any second. It was a really bad trip.Needless to say, our trip to the Big Bend was much less than I'd hoped it would be. Since I'd only had one thing to eat all day on the Monday I arrived in Alpine, I had to believe that those sour cream enchiladas were the reason my trip was ruined.I ate at the Reata restaurant because it had a 4 and a half star review. I can say for sure I won't eat there again. Best of luck to those who do.

Reata is an excellent steakhouse with delicious food and a western ambience that's perfect for Alpine. Our family was visiting there for 2 weeks and we ate there each weekend! We plan on making a return visit.

Food is always hit or miss. Consistently something gets sent out cold. And the service is normally awful. But sometimes the chicken fried steak is good.Way too inconsistent to justify the price they charge.

Carne Asada beef was unable to cut with the knife and I could not eat it . The Tortilla soup was just ok at best . I do not know if I just caught them on an off day but honestly it was terrible for me and I will not be returning obviously. I hope I just caught them on an off day . The service was nice and the atmosphere was good but the food was bad .

It's been a few years since I have eaten at this restaurant before last Friday, and the quality of food and flavor has suffered. The fare compared to Cotton Patch with prices severely out of touch with the quality. The corn was canned, the penne pasta dish was bland, and the rest of our dishes were not great. The service was good and the atmosphere was good, but I expected better.

To start, the manager is rude. That alone should have been enough to say goodbye and hello to McDonald’s. As I was with a group we stayed and endured her torture. The waitress was kind and efficient. The food was mediocre, but generally okay. We had a variety of dishes and all were passable. I want to love this place as much as the Reatta in Ft. Worth, but the outpost is not as good. Until they get good management, it is a hard pass.

We had the tenderloin tamales which were fantastic! Also had chicken fried chicken which was great. The sirloin tacos were not as good- the sirloin was chewy and the pinto beans undercooked. The waiter Joseph was great! We were in a small room in a dark corner -ok but a little dark.
