We went here looking for some food, but there were mostly drinks. The tamales that were from off-site were delicious (reason for 2 stars), but I was expecting more based on the photos. The bartender was nice and friendly.

Now Alcove Social! Fun environment, lots of events to have fun with. Great little local spot always more to do then just drink.

I am very happy to see this place alive and in running again. Stop in and support this local business, they are doing good things for the Alpine community.

Great bar and an inventive kitchen. We always stop at the Saddle Club whenever we are in Alpine. Definitely one of our Go To restaurants.

This is listed as a tapas place. It's not - it's far better. Po boy is pretty good but the real action is the epic fries - amazing!

The Epic Fries live up the name, they're a must try! The featured burger is always delicious and the beer selection is solid. I love the patio seating!

This is the best bar in Alpine. It's rare that I go to Alpine and don't visit this place. The atmosphere is great. No distracting TVs, just good food and drink, and fun people.

Very creative cocktails, some are kind of weak, though. The Bywater is really smooth and velvety. Try the Epic Fries - you won't regret it!

It's a bar. Pretty much nothing else. But, in Alpine, it is one of the nicer bars. Drinks are reasonable - tap beer, wine, etc. They have food but I think it's all fried.

Usually a nice place to hang out and get some great drinks and food. This last time around, the drinks were horrible. I had a long island ice tea and it tasted like lime. There was no other taste. I don't know if they made it in hurry or what, but that was a horrible waste and I was completely unsatisfied with my drink, my friend's was the same. Our waiter was okay, he was patient.

Wow. What a mess. The waitresses were very nice (two stars because they were trying) but not able to handle the service. They explained that it was super busy (6pm on a Saturday) which we did not see. There were maybe 15 people in the bar and a few outside. Not busy where I'm from. It was down hill from there. Seating was super cute, but VERY uncomfortable. If your going to have couches and benches and want people to stay and drink they need to be sit-in-able. We moved to a table. I ordered a sloe gin fizz. They couldn't make it. I asked for a hard cider. Don't carry it. I ordered a gin with a top hat off the menu, all out of stuff to make it. I ordered a colors light. It was cold and fresh. My husband ordered a hurricane off the menu. All out of stuff to make it. He had a Mandula Oblongata. Very tasty! We ordered epic fries. They didn't know if they could make them, figured out they could and then we waited 30 mins for the fries. They were really good. Ordered another drink to go with the fries. We were done with the fries before the second drink showed up. Our waitress comped my beer for our wait. Which was appreciated. Had we had service and had they been able to serve their menu we would have drank and ate all evening. But it was just too crappy to hang out there. Back to the hotel with a 6-pack. One other thing that was just. Weird. The cook had a low volume verbal argument with a woman who was at the bar with a small child (wife?) it was very angry and although low toned it was enough to gather my attention to a possible altercation. It was all bizarre. A child at a bar? A cook arguing with his wife while working? Why not take it outside? The wife walking out shaking her head and talking to herself? This could be a really fun and cute place. Just need some work on basic bar management.

Dranks only review: Two visits to The Saddle Club in recent years. Once by myself on a trip out to Alpine. I was staying at the Holland and had already visited the bar. I guess a few blocks for another drinky (or two) can't hurt. I was concerned about the train noise! No food ordered; I was worried about overwhelming the chef in the Superman phone booth who was cooking. I seem to remember the waitron telling me they were nearly out of the entire menu. Fine by me; because I was there for what was displayed over the bar....Social Irrigation. I ordered a shot of Jameson and the beer cocktail of the evening. Wished I could remember what that was because it was stellar! I might have ordered one more and stumbled back to the Holland to play pool. Next visit was with the wife who wasn't excited about the menu. After a few drinks including the bywater which consisted of stuff I can barley pronounce... We walked down to the Century Bar and Grill for dinner....

I've been here many times and they have been great! The food is great, never had a bad experience there. However, this last time around, the drinks we ordered were disgusting. We got there half an hour before close with the intention of just getting a drink and heading out, we were not planning to "make camp". It was busy but I'd rather wait and have a decent drink then something that was rushed and just tasted god awful. I'm not sure who made them but I've been weary to go back. I'm not fond of going to spend $8 on a drink only for it to be another sad disappointment. I haven't been back since.
