Finally made it to Spicewood for lunch! The Brisket nachos were outstanding! We ordered the fried catfish with shrimp, fries and hush puppies & the Steak Bites. This was the best meal I've had in Alpine. Very reasonably priced and the service was top notch! Thank you all for making our day fantastic.
Delicious food and great service. Beautiful dining indoors or out!

An absolute nightmare. Added ourselves to the wait list and was told they would text in 45 minutes. An hour and 15 later, we ask hostess, who insisted she texted before she dropped us, nope. Service was EXTREMELY slow and had to ask for a drink menu. That took forever and then drinks took forever and a day. Wine was correct, but when the strawberry margarita came, it was a regular margarita. Food was fairly quick. Too quick. Tenderloin came out so rare it mooed, when it was requested as medium, but the bison steak was overcooked when it was also ordered medium (?!?). If you're keepimg track, they are up to four strikes. They want things addressed immediately so they don't get negative reviews, but addressed to who?? We never saw anyone that remotely acted like a manager. When the most expensive steak you have has to go back, isn't THAT a sign a manager should get involved at any decent restaurant? No joke, after dinner we went and get a second dinner elsewhere. Had super super high hopes based off of reviews, but this was a major miss. Side note, don't look at the online menu and decide on something ahead of time, the actual menus have been paired down.

We eat here often and it’s one of the best places to go in Alpine, TX. The prices are on par with other restaurants in town, but their portions are huge. Great cocktails too! Our favorites to order are the Catfish, fried shrimp, steak and enchiladas when they have them.

Really nice restaurant, great drink options and the food was delicious. It seems like a pretty popular place so definitely get their early or expect a little bit of a wait.

A True West Texas Gem!
Spicewood captures the spirit of Alpine with its inviting, family-friendly atmosphere, thoughtful details, and a menu that delivers.
The Brisket Nachos are spot on—smoky, flavorful, and generously layered. The burgers are nothing short of outstanding, the steak tips tender and well-seasoned, and the cocktails executed with timeless precision.
Copper tables and leather-bound menus add a touch of rustic elegance, while the scenic views and cool Alpine breeze create the perfect backdrop. A must-visit spot for anyone seeking elevated comfort food and warm hospitality in West Texas.

Food was okay, vegetables were definitely frozen, likely from a kidz cuisine. For some reason we were seated with another party at their table, even though there were several empty tables. Don't go her
Beautiful place! Love it! Great service and beautiful vistas! Tonight we had great service, I wish I could remember her name. Large group and it was close to closing time and they still accepted our group and gave us great service. Thank you!

This restaurant has a decent atmosphere - has a good variety of menu options , but does not do well with the basics!
The waiter was a new hire - which he explained ….. but he took forever to get us cocktails (2 bottles of beer) … there were only 2 in the party. It did not appear management was helping this young man with the kiosk.
We each ordered the 10oz ribeye (one medium and one medium rare) ….. with baked potatoes and veggies. After considerable wait for drinks, the entrees arrived super quick . However, the ribeye steaks were just awful . First of all, a $37 ribeye steak should NOT look like the quick / thin cut you get at a fast food restaurant like Denny’s or the Waffle House. The thin cut had no flavor and neither of the steaks arrived hot- both were under cooked (butter on steaks did not melt) - both steaks were cooked rare and they were NOT tender - neither steak had flavor / neither steak had seasoning- - (they were just bland) - the ribeye steaks were over-priced at $37 and totally unimpressive! What a waste of money!
…. Also, the baked potatoes were mildly warm (butter and sour cream never melted). Brussels sprouts (which cost extra ) were highly recommended by waiter- however- they arrived over cooked- dried out- tough to chew- and were also cold! Obviously the owner / manager is not checking the plates as they leave the kitchen…..both entrees were a total disaster and should not have been served! An experienced waiter should have rejected the plates from the kitchen .
The manager offered to ‘replate’ the food or provide a free desert. ( we assumed he meant throw it in the microwave ) …. We opted for the desert...and tried to end the disappointing night asap.

Online it says they are open from 11-9 but call to place an order and they are closed apparently. Last time i was there during viva big bend it took 10 minutes before a hostess even showed up to the hostess desk to take our name and party info. I swear they hate money and hate their customers for trying to actually dine at a restaurant that claims to be open
