Live music singing to tables, elevated table to highlight contestants of the 72oz. Steak eatting
What a fun experience! Great food and good service. Excellent Margartlita ina boot! A must do in Amarillo.
We had reservations since it was Valentine's Day and a Saturday night. It was a very busy time, but we were seated two minutes before our reservation. We had excellent service and there was not a lengthy wait for the food. There were a lot of happy people, enjoying their dinners and the ambience was great.
Truly iconic American experience. Not for folks who want a quiet and intimate dinner. But really enjoyable experience, service was outstanding and the food was delicious!
Definitely a unique experience! If you are ever in the area, I would highly recommend eating there! The food was yummy, and very friendly servers! The only thing I didn't like was that you had to tip the two man band that walked around, or they wouldn't come near you and play :(. The motel is really cool too!
Our experience was rushed. Food was decent. Close to the rooms so it was convenient. Overall it was a good place to eat.Potato was cold and steak was thin.
This place is a kitschy Route 66 attraction and it very much leans into the persona. The food was good (my steak was a little overdone, so I'd suggest ordering your steak a level lower than you normally would). The meal is also a good value for all that you get. This a tourist stop and as long as you go in knowing that's what you're getting, it certainly a solid place.
Great food, great environment and great drinks.
Great place overall.

Stopped at The Big Texan because you have to, stayed because Texas doesn’t believe in small portions or quiet dining. The steak was the size of a spare tire, the vibe was pure roadside legend, and the staff treats overeating like a competitive sport. If you leave hungry, you’re doing it wrong. Amarillo isn’t complete without this stop.

Disappointing. Previous visit was great. This visit quality of steak has gone down. Came out raw. Sevice almost nonexistent. Specifically stopped in Amarillo on our cross country trip to go to Big Texan again.

Overall a fun experience, wife had CF Chicken and it was so salt you could not eat it - we had 2- 16oz Duke ribeyes - cook was good but still chewy and just an ok steak. Server was definitely working her tail end off with 5 tables from what I could tell - had to ask for tea multiple times and at one point we thought she might have left she was gone for so long. Worth the experience for sure but maybe not a second time.
Great experience. We stayed in Amarillo just to eat at The Big Texan, and it didn't disappoint. The energy is fun, the service is excellent, and the food is solid. A wonderful family evening and well worth the extra night on the road home.
I thought the food and service and ambience was excellent. I thought the steak was delicious and the rolls were nice and soft and warm and very good. On the dessert, I had the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. But I thought the dessert would have been better if the cookie was baked from scratch and warm and soft and in a skillet, like it just came out of the oven. But the cookie was like a regular hard chocolate chip cookie from a package.
Our waitress was awesome! The food was ordered and we were promptly served an amazing steak dinner. Cooked to our request. It was fantastic! We were full so dessert was ordered and we took it home to enjoy. Great experience!
