Love this place, a must do if you are in the Amarillo area. Be sure to make a reservation, it gets really busy.
The food was okay. Onion rings were very tasty and fresh. Rolls were great. I had center cut steak and it was overcooked and a bit tough. Husband had steak burger and really liked it. My baked potato was delicious but paying $2 for loaded (which was a plenty sized side of sour cream and a small sized cup of shredded cheese mixed with green onions and a few bacon pieces) was a bit overpriced. Service was slow although our waitress was lovely and conversational. We had to ask and wait for refills of tea. Then we had to ask for our bill.
Awesome service, super quick. The food was amazing. I really liked the steak being cooked over an open flame. Very very tasty!!!!
We drove in all the way from Houston specifically to try The Big Texan, and I was honestly pretty disappointed. The place is definitely festive and full of Texas charm, and the service was genuinely great — super friendly and attentive staff. But the food just didn't live up to the hype at all. For a place that's so famous, I expected way better. The flavors were off, everything tasted pretty mediocre, and it really felt like you're paying more for the name and the atmosphere than the actual quality of the meal. It's a fun spot to visit once just to say you've been, but for us, it wasn't worth the long drive or the reputation. Not somewhere I'd go back for the food.
It just wasn't as good as it was last time we went. Our waitress only had three tables and she couldn't hear us, so a lot got missed. We had felt bad that we had recommended to our friends.
Outstanding experience. What a blast. They promote the heck out of their free steak if you can eat it all, but I just had a regular New York strip, and it was outstanding. and at 38 bucks a great price definitely recommend
2nd time at the Big Texan. Got the Prime Rib Medium Rare. It was so good. Server was great. My only knock is drinks being served in Plastic Cups. C'mon Big Texan, use glass. Will return if ever in Amarillo again.
Fun atmosphere kind of like a theme park. Food was good. Service was superb. It's one of those places you need to go to say you've been there.
This was the best meal of my life. I would fly to Amarillo from NYC just to try this place again!
Real loud Steak was fatty, beer was mid, a bit pricy This is more of a tourist trap. Good to see but big on the regular

2nd trip here on a spur of the moment road trip and my wife had never been here. My first visit was several years ago and I was very underwhelmed by the quality of the food so I was a bit unsure of what to expect. This trip was completely opposite. Steaks were cooked to perfection and service was phenomenal. Would definitely dine here again in the future based on my most recent visit.
This was the first time I used the online reservation tool, and I'm impressed. Even though there was a line stretching out the door, we were seated within five minutes of arriving. Otherwise, I've stopped at the Big Texan almost every time I pass through Amarillo, and the place never fails to disappoint. To quote Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'll be back.
Great historic restaurant along I40. Great steaks and sides. I recommend a reservation. It gets very full after 6 pm.
My wife had the strip steak and I had ribs. Both had great flavor and were delicious. Sides were very good. Server did a great job. Ordered coconut cake to go - big slice
