Our favorite place to eat when driving thru from Fort Worth to Colorado or Albqueque! The very best onion rings and fries. Delicious burgers and grilled chicken sandwich. Food comes out fast.

I’m gonna help you decide!!

So tonight I did something weird: I bought two hamburgers. Not because I’m starting a new diet (though I am open to it), but because I’m not from Amarillo and I was on a mission—find the best burger in town.

The contenders? Blue Sky (BS) and Buns Over Texas (BOT). Both got a plain, no-frills burger because I’m a purist. Also because I needed to taste the burger, not the personality of whoever slathered it in sauce.

Let’s start with Buns Over Texas. First off, solid single patty. The lettuce and onions were shredded like they just lost a fight, but in a good way. The bun? Buttery and toasted—basically the prom king of buns. I cheated a little and seasoned it myself before the first bite, but they’ve got a DIY fixin’ bar inside, so technically I was just participating in the process. BOT gave me flavor, crunch, and the mild thrill of mild customization.

Then came Blue Sky. The building looked suspiciously clean, like a place that might overcook a burger and call it “gourmet.” But I was wrong. The single patty was hefty, cooked perfectly, and had real flavor—without me having to sprinkle on anything like a bored wizard. It was ready to impress straight out of the wrapper.

Now, here’s the deal: both burgers were good. Add cheese, and we’re talking next-level. But if I had to pick one to bring to a deserted island (or just to dinner), I’m going with Blue Sky. It won on pure burger strength—no extras needed.

So yeah, go eat a burger. Just maybe make it Blue Sky.

What exactly is the point of having a drive-thru if you're going to serve cold food? In my opinion that's pretty trashy. This will be the last time I order drive-thru.
