The Big Texan Steak Ranch & Brewery

We loved our meal! Food and service was great!

The Big Texan is all about atmosphere. They have singers with guitars playing for patrons. They have a large, open flame grill that is easily visible from practically all the tables. The interior has the flare of a Texas hunting lodge with stuffed animal heads on the walls. The theme for the restaurant is not tough to figure out: it’s a Texas, western-themed establishment complete with a cowboy-like dress code for employees and long picnic bench-like tables large enough for multiple families. If you’re driving through Texas and want to do something fun, this is a great location to visit.

Having said that, the ribeye was good, but it was not great. It had a ton of fat on it. A ribeye is supposed to have fat, but this steak had more fat than I’ve seen on any other steakhouse ribeye. It seemed like almost half the steak was fat. It was cooked correctly and tasted good, but I wish there was more meat on it.

Bottom line, if you live in Amarillo, you’ll probably want to only visit this steakhouse when people are visiting from outside Texas rather than it being the go-to steakhouse in town. But like I said, if you’re driving by and want a fun place to eat, the Big Texan is a good bet. And you can attempt to eat the 72 oz steak (which doesn’t look like it has much fat on it) and get it for free if you can eat it and two sides within an hour.

We always try to stop by when we are on Amarillo. The steaks are usually good. They have good sides. The ambiance is key and spot on!

So fun! Good food, good vibe, nostalgic decor. Loved it!

First time here with my granddaughter, road trip from Missouri.

Amazing! I had the birthday meal. I had the prime rib, baked potatoes and salad. Rolls and iced tea! Free 99!! Yum!

We stayed at the big Texan RV park many times and always go to dinner here! The booths are a little crowded for 4 adults but it’s manageable

Bucket list item checked. Worth the drive. Food was really good. Service was awesome. Lots to see, they have a rattle snake...

I went solo during lunch and was seated at the top floor. Everyone else was seated at the bottom floor. Felt awkward, everyone on the bottom floor conversating and I'm just sitting there feeling like I'm in time out. That's the reason I gave 4 stars for service and atmosphere. The food was good and have a great selection. Steak was awesome and the waiter was nice. Pretty cool place with the western decor.

Such an amazing experience excellent food friendly service I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

We always stop here when we're traveling through on vacating. We brought the grandkids this last time, and they had a great time, too!

It was an average meal at best. Had a ribeye steak, Mac and cheese (the best part), chili and tea.

The bill was 38.00. Not a terrible price point but the food really wasn’t that good.

It was a 30 minute wait to be seated then another 30 min to get a server to take my order and never could get a refill.

I guess I just expected better.

Worth it for the experience.

Our waiter was awesome, that girl is going places!!
I saw her cleaning tables, talking to customers, offering assistance without losing the pace, every time either she was going or coming back, she will do something productive in in those walks. Keep it up!!!
